Speed or Looks?

do you wear clean clothes, comb your hair, brush your teeth, wear nice clothes, etc. etc.? Well why do you care what other people think of you? If you are happy with yourself then thats all that matters.

Some people like to have a nice looking car for themselves. I personally am one of them. I could never drive some old rust bucket no matter how fast it was.

i knew that question was going to come in response. even though i said yes i am one to care about how a car looks…but it isnt my determining factor.
yes, i wear nice clothes, comb my hair etc…but if i am not…if i am smelly and dirty from work, will that stop me from going grocery shopping? or somehow stop me from making to a friends house to wish them happy birthday. nope cuz it isnt the priority. i guess you have to tkae what i said with a grain of salt. i am not trying to to call anyone here posers, i am just more or less commenting on current trends these days of function fleeting to form.

B, it’s fast enough, and there’s still always going to be someone faster.

A would be damn nice too, but not as a street driven car.

I don’t know, it’s hard to say.

Wow, the boy is learning. Sounds familiar Ryan…good stuff.

I guess if ‘looks’ was all i was looking for when I decided to purchase a 3 series BMW…i would have just gotten the 323 and used the leftover money to buy aesthetic mods. Instead, i bought a 330 for a fair amount more and still dropped a lot on aesthetic mods.

On the other hand, I already have a 10sec car (but no twisties for that) which i often took to car shows. I have an “off-roading” vehicle and winter beater with the Jeep. And with the BMW a great car for twisties with a bit of pep and a bit of show. So I feel i filled all my peronal urges… but in the end, I did it for myself.

If it were a year ago, I would have agreed with you totally. But now I don’t totally agree … and it’s for a very twisted reason.

Last summer, I split time driving between two of my favorite cars

  • a 96 Volvo 850R sedan. It’s goes pretty good (240hp stock), and it’s a damn good looking car.
  • a 92 Dodge Spirit R/T. This thing goes like hell (about 300 wheel horsepower), but it looks … well, like a Dodge Spirit.

Which did I like driving more? For 80% of the driving I do, the SPIRIT! (Volvo rocks for road trips). But a big part of the fun was the sleeper qualities.

That became clearer to me this summer, where I’m splitting time driving the Volvo, and my 1990 Dodge Caravan, with a perked up 2.5L turbo motor. The van is a bit faster than the Volvo, but nothing like the Spirit. I’ve got to face the facts - it’s a heavy ass ride with the aerodynamics of a sheet of plywood. But the sleeper factor is AMAZING!

But, back to the original point - is it fun to have people look at your car? YES - the strange looks you get from people when the BOV is hissing from people on the side of the road? The “WTF” looks you get from people when you hit full boost to beat them to a lane merge? It amuses me to no end!!! The fun NEVER GOES AWAY!

(why a minivan, you ask? 3 weeks ago, my 4th child arrived! Need to have a minivan for myself, might as well have some fun with it!)

I’m torn, i can’t say either A or B, i consider myself in the A catagory, not necessarily a pimp ride but its built for speed. And i can tell you when you come home and get a ride and or go to the track with me you will want A. However i can’t push you in either direction, i love your Cobra, just like i’d love a Z06 just as much as i love my camaro now. it would be pimp to take a Z06 anywhere i want as far as i want and trap 120+ on the bottle, just like your cobra. But i have my iroc, i have alot of time and money into it so i’m not going to give you just yet and do pimp. time will tell bud, wait till you come home b4 u make a final call on all of this. just do me 1 favor, do not sell the cobra

Mike

screw it sell the cobra . build the 87 and wreck everyone across the world!

finish the cobra and start the 87

hard choice, prolly b because 115 trap ur lookin at 13s which sint too bad, and you can always make it faster.

haha try 12’s all day long…prob low 12’s

low low low 12s, kickin’ the 11’s door in but it has reinforced titanium hindges so it isn’t braking down…

The man has a point.

I think I saw your car by the way. Were you and a blue Celica in the burger king on transit last thursday afternoon? I drove through looking to meet a couple fellow forum members but no one came out…

Yeah I think ive made up my mind to keep the cobra and finish that.

I know, I know youve heard it all before 2350748607 times

But really when i think about it, shaun never even got to cruise with us during the summer with the top down, and when i was home for those 2 weeks in march, the car was runnin poopy cause of the clutch problems. But anyways, i think im forgetting how much fun it is just to cruise, and seeing what your car is doing is bringing out the speed demon in me that wants to “wreck everyone across the world” (lol shaun)

But dont worry, i wont sell the cobra, i do love the dang thing too much. Guess its time to finish what i started and then focus on the fox.

Oh and BTW, a 115 trap is definately good for 12s, i ran a [email=“12.01@115.00”]12.01@115.00 takin a poop during the 3-4 shift. So its definately 11s territory.

yeah man, i was there. When I was eating I saw you drive out the parking lot and thought you might have been on the board. Didn’t know you were looking for me though  The car looked good!

You’re car looks good, too

But Joe will never admitt it becasue he’s a domestic hating queer

:stuck_out_tongue:

I would rather have a fast sleeper than something that looks nice. I think cars are here to have fun with, and should be driven. A nice car will just get messed up if it is raced all the time and beat on.

A nice looking car you can enjoy all the time, a fast car only when it’s possible to stretch it’s legs.

X…
