So I took my vert out for the first time, and I thought the speedo seemed a little off. So today I took my gps with me, and sure enough when doing about about 95 the thing reads 110, but when going slower, it only seems to be off my smaller increments. The tire’s are pretty close to stock diameter, and it’s got the stock gears in it. Bad cluster? Bad ground? I suck at electronics.
Is the needle bouncing around at all or anything like that? Does it seem out of sync no matter what speed you’re doing (should be less inaccurate when you’re going slower)?
Speedo might need to be recalibrated. I had to do it with the nismo speedo I ordered from japan too. There’s a little potentiometer on the back of the speedo (you have to take it completely apart, aka out of the cluster) that looks almost like a really small volume knob, but without numbers or anything on it.
I can’t remember which way you need to turn it to make it read faster… If I’m not mistaken you need to turn it clockwise.
It’s a pain in the ass, lol.
Thanks, that does sound like a pain in the ass. It is further off when going faster. I punched it and the thing read 180 when I was probably only going 100 at the most, it then slowly made its way back down, but still not where it should be. I’ll probably swap another cluster in if I find one, and if that doesnt help then I’ll just have to deal with it for now.
bad speed sensor maybe?
I guess I could try to find a sensor and see if that works too, thanks
I typically find Nissan speedo’s of that era to be %10 fast…
The way this one acts is not normal
