Spot weld remover: step drill or spot weld cutter

Spot weld remover: step drill or spot weld cutter? i have about +100 to drill.

gen auto? i think someone on here was talking about a hole saw type thing that works wonders, HRK i think it was…

there are spot weld in other things besides cars… but thanks dirty, i have not used that cutter.

spot weld cutters > step drills

ive got a rotabroach kit for spot welds and it works amazing and is very hard to kill, but the set isnt cheap at all

pick up a reasonably priced spot weld (holesaw style) and use a centerpunch to mark center on each of the spotwelds you have to drill, as that will realy help keep the bit centered as ya work

and remeber, leave the last panel intact, if theres 3 layers its ok if you cut into the second, but once you go thru the 3rd its a pain in the ass to weld things back together

Cutter, no equivocation. You want something to weld to.

Al Wils on Transit has the line-up of Blair cutters and replacement arbors and cutter heads.

In general, doing things the way Lafengus does is usually a good idea.

thats the thing i was thinkin of

word, ok the spot weld cutters dont cut the spot weld, but the cut the metal around it. (not removing the spot weld). On the mustang rebuild he said broke the the tool, not the cutter.

Yeah, I misspoke a bit. I actually snapped the center pin at the tip. Nipped the tip

You can get the tool itself, and the replacement center pins and reversable cutter heads all at that Al Wils joint - thanks suzukiriderman

What are you cutting up? The heads seem to last for about 30-40 welds with lubrication before you have to flip them.
