thanks

same shit man.
no difference
are there any differences other than the motor?
other than the motor, bumper, dam hicas if you have any…no difference.
DOHC Canadian cars had an LSD diff, SOHC were open diff… few other minor things like fabric in the interior.
The spring rates should be different in the HICAS equipped 91+ car because there was supposedly a “sport package.” My car has HICAS and the shocks & springs are pretty stiff for a stock car (still lots of bodyroll however). I’ve been in an 89 base model coupe and it felt so soft relatively. Maybe it had bad shocks, who knows.
Some other notable differences: The seats are monoform buckets on the 89-90’s, while the 91+ have an adjustable headrest + lumbar support (on my leathers :)). Also, the steering wheels are different. One more thing I’m not 100% sure on is that the 89-90 240SX does not have a consult port, but it can be wired in later if need be.
I have never owned a SOHC S13, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
100% true. Minus the consult. All S13’s have the port. Probably even S12’s.
Did the 89-90’s come with O.E.M spoilers ever???
there indeed is a spring rate difference between the ‘sport package’ and earlier s13s… i dont have it on hand but the springs are slightly more stiffer… still boat-soft though but whatever. Likewise the hicas model has a stiffer rear swaybar. Nothing astronomical though. I’m lazy to search but if you do you’ll find the exact spring rates.
Does anyone know exactly what years had what springs? and what the specs on those springs were.
Also anything else different between the years or dohc and sohc like this that isn’t obvious?
thanks
I noticed from driving 89-90’s and 91+'s from work that 91+'s are a little stiffer, as well as have a slightly lower ride height versus the 89-90’s cars.
91-93 hicas models only had the upgraded “sport” springs
^^ truth
88-94 NON-HICAS models all had the same springs
91-93 HICAS equipped models had slightly stiffer/lower springs
and only 90+ nissans have consult
s12s most def. did not have consult neither do 89 s13’s
thanks for the info, but whats consult?
I tried looking for a big grey consult plug in the driver’s side kick panel…no luck…maybe I’m blind. lol
I have a 93 S13 with HICAS…I was sure I had one…oh well I’ll look again later. I still dont understand how the stock springs/shocks make for a firm and harsh ride, but have so much bodyroll. Stock sway bars are pretty beefy too considering the overall weight of the car…weird.
should be near the fuse box…
Anyways WHO CARES? Get some frickin coilovers /thread
I cant run coilovers, its an oval track car. theres rules
What are the rules you are restricted to? Technically our cars have ‘coilovers’… so… Just not height adjustable.
STOCK
heres a link to the rules:
