Valves need to be adjusted? SR has hydraulic lash adjustment.
Also the guides are fairly simple to change, it just requires alot of time and patience to remove the front cover. I don’t live in the area though so I can’t recommend you a shop, sorry.
dont I need to remove the head inorder to replace the timing stuff?
no u don’t need to remove the head. did u get my pm?

^ factory service manual.
lots of pictures and in depth descriptions of what you are asking about. You’ll have to sift through it however, the hardcopy is about the size of a medium phone book
I’d like to see a front cover removed without pulling the head.
Seems impossible considering the top of the cover has two bolts that go up into the head and you can’t just pull it straight down since there are a few dowel pins. It would require prying the front cover outward to clear the dowels and then sliding it down on and angle to get the bolts out of the head. Seems like you would just end up destroying the cover. I may be wrong, just never seen it done.
nah you can do it the top doesnt have any dowels
it is just a bitch its worth it to take the head off imo
The top doesn’t have dowels but it has small studs that stick up into the cylinder head. Or do you mean that the top portion of the face of the front cover has no dowels?
Regardless i’m going to agree that it is probably worth removing the cylinder head.
yeah… I knew that it is best to get the head off…
this is were I lack experience… heck when it comes to the engine it self… I’d rather get someone who knows what their doing to do it.
I’ll learn off the KA…
in the mean time… I’m looking for someone aroiund scarborough that knows how to replace the timing for an SR properly…
But I rather go somewhere further for anyone who can do it properly…
the engine is not in the car yet soo I can move it to anywhere…
