I have a 93 Hatch with recent paint and not much rust although its starting to bubble on the rear driver side quarter panel. Most of all it has 274,xxx kms on the body with a swapped KA24, bings catback, and 18" rims. A soft spot on the frame is being welded and a hole in the floor is being patched up. The car is pretty nice looking, but the interior is pretty garbage and theres a huge dent in the passenger side rocker panel. Paint on my bumper has melted right off and the bumper has been warped because i bought the car with a cheezy upswept exhaust and it ate my bumper, and a rock chip on my hood is getting much bigger because the paint is shit. It has no power options and a couple things arent cooperating.
On the other hand, I just bought an 89 two tone coupe with 235,xxx kms that the sr20 currently is in. It has a rotten driver side frame rail, the rockers have some big bubbling spots, there is also rust on the driver side quarter panel and peices of the panel are flaking away. The interior is in good shape and the underbody is ok other than the rotten frame rail. There is also a couple of big rust spots on the rear under the tail lights. The car is fully functional other than the heads up display and it has the power options where the hatch does not, and does not have a sun roof when the hatch does.
My question to you is, would it be worth swapping the sr20 into the green hatch where it has a decent exterior except for the cheap paint, dent in the rocker plus the rust on the quarter panel starting and on the hatch. Or would it be worth selling the green hatch and fixing the problems with the two tone coupe, that needs welding on the frame, and some body work on the rockers, quarter panel, and rear and I would have to pay for the swap, and just put all my goodies in the green hatch into the coupe?
Personally, the 2 tone coupe is sexy and I love coupes, I just cant decide on which will be better.
