SR20 with stock Fuel Pump ?

Okay… I installed my SR20 and all is well… she runs real smooth and nice.

I upgraded the manifold, 3’’ extention and 3’’ downpipe…

Boost hits REAL hard @ about 3800-4000rpm and right as she hits it hesitates for a moment then passes over it.

Anyone running a SR20 with a stock fuel pump ? and have any time of problems which feels like a lack of fuel while under boost or when hitting boost ?

I have a Walbro… just havent had the time to install it yet…

thanks

Jeff

Stock fuel pump restrict so much power, install the walboro, it takes like 30min, and you wont believe the power gain.

oh man i didnt realize you had stock pump! You gotta put in teh walbro, i’m willing to bet your hesitation will go away too with the walbro

mine is still stock, im a ricer.

the car is still very fast with it but on the highway i’ll hit fuel cut at high RPM <-- not good. im getting a walbro and upping the boost. as far as running and being a daily car it still works fine with a stock pump, it could be a lot better tho. change it soon.

If you think it is fast then you dont know what fast is :stuck_out_tongue: , seriously, i thought my old SR was fast with the stock pump and i put a walboro in it and i couldnt stop smiling for like a week.

fuel pumps give you 10000 whp

ok…

i ran a stock fuel pump at 8 psi for a week, there was no power increase at all or any change other than increased fuel flow…

and when i ran the stock pump it ran mint

are you running on a D or DE pump

the DE pump can handle more than the D the D cant even support a SR

I’m running on the DE pump at the moment…

I’m getting a slight hesitation now in 1st gear sometimes now just past 2000rpm ?

So I’m going to check for a vaccum leak tomorrow. Plus get the walbro in a.s.a.p.

its E you ricer.

It all depends on how old the pump is, if the pump is still flowing enough fuel for the engine than its fine, ty’s pump is still ok so his car still goes ok without it. Ty you tool the speed cut is unrelated haha

My first car the stock pump was pretty much done, when I put the walbro in it was quicker. Thats really all that there is to it.

That makes sense, mine was from the SOHC, and the difference was huge. I assumed they were the same … that wont happen again
