just curious does the sr2det fit in a mr2…im curious because im thinking about purchasing the mr2 on here that was posted…thanks you guys…
Sure, why not. All it needs is alot of money.
it may be do-able if the SR20 was from a front drive car with a transaxle style transmission. I would just go with the j-spec 20 valve and go from there.
Like Marc said anythings possible with money…
IIRC Bluebird’s have a Frontdrive DET…
Hi:
It will not balance the force because the sr20det is for the FR. If you put it on MR car , the power will be overload on the car, the front of the car will go up when you are speeding. it is not stable because MR2 is light weight car. The front is too short. But if you put something heavy at the front, that could be possible.
A stock SR has around 205hp, there are Mk1 mr2’s running around with double that. Mind you, 200hp in a 2400lb mr2 would be very fast it would not be unstable to the point of losing traction to the front wheels.
How?
So if I put a Cadallac Northstar V8 into a Pontiac Fiero, there will be too much power coming from the rear end and the car will start to lift it’s front wheels at high speed? (While the electrical system shorts out and the car bursts into flames… j/k)
^— Please note a hint of sarcasm, please.
Yes, GTiR is fwd as well, both which can be sourced for a relativly good price.
Dear:
i am sure someone put SR on the miata.
I do not mean MR2 is impossible, i just worry about the car cannot affort the power , on the other hand, when the car turning will have extra oversteeling because the engine is heavy. example below:

good luck

I presume that everyone here is talking about the same thing? I think the guy is asking about the feasability of putting a front drive SR20DET into the back of a MR2.
No reason why it wouldn’t work, as others have suggested, if you have enough money.
The guy who’s talking about the front lifting? No idea what he’s on… a SR isn’t going to be significantly more powerful, or lighter that the MR2 motor
that it would be replacing… It would be going into the same end of the car (back).
BTW… GTiR comes with a 4 wheel drive trans, but will mate to the front drive trans. Very nice motor.
Would make for a very unique car. Worth it? That’s for you to decide.

why would you want to do that? if you can with much less money drop a 4agze (supercharged) motor (a bolt on affair - capable of 200hp without much work) or even better the 3sgte (which came in 92+ cars) rated anywhere from 200-280bhp depending on the model.
I have just two words to say about this topic — 4AG ZE
