but smart enough not to buy a GM?
sorry over engineering by germans is a royal Pain in the a$$ They are not simple to work on by anymeans.
pride in my country isn’t the same as pride in the UAW, or pride in shitty american vehicles. My last THREE cars were also GM. One was made by Toyota in CALIFORNIA and sold with a bowtie on the front, another was made by SUZUKI in CANADA and sold with a bowtie on the front. The third was made in Saturn’s Spring Hill plant. The point is that GM cares less about where their cars are built than you do. I’ve probably owned more GMs by this point than I have owned Hondas… and yet almost none of them were built here. Does that make me unpatriotic? My only long-term FoMoCo car was built in Australia with a Mazda powertrain. I must hate America… :hsugh:
Face facts: Car corporations are multi-national… they don’t have the sense of nationalism that you do. AND even that douchebag Bush agrees with me that ability to compete dictates who survives in a capitalist economy. I’ll buy the products I like no matter who makes them. If Pat Robertson and Dick Cheney started a car company that sold $6000 hatchbacks that got 70mpg AND came with a fifteen year warranty, I’d buy one.
“marry outside their own”? you really ARE white trash. asian people usually marry asian people. jewish people usually marry jewish people. catholics usually marry catholics. it’s called being part of a COMMUNITY. i am a (upper?)-middle class white guy from the suburbs of western european descent with a penchant for IKEA, witbier, and liberal politics. given that, i will probably end up marrying a white, middle class, leftish chick from the suburbs. it’s called the homogenaeity of the communities in which we live. now, if i met a hot black chick who loves Saabs and James Carville, i could end up marrying her… but EVERY RACE generally skews towards marrying other members of their race.
1: i don’t have a “jap ride”. i mean, i have a car assembled by Daewoo in Korea, from Holden parts from Australia, for GM, to sell as a Suzuki in America. So… I drive a GM…
2: wow… there’s a heavier car than my hatchback… :hsugh: Apples and oranges. Hit a G Body with a Volvo stationwagon.
i just find it odd that GMs cars of late have a whole new look and are supposedly focused on better refinement and a more ‘euro’ look. i figured overall it would increase sales, but i’m guessing the newer cars havent been such a hit w/ the public? the cobalt seems to be catchign on (and i think they r great cars). what about the trucks? corvette? and alot of the new models that have come out in the last year or so?
all i gotta say is people that want ‘euro’ cars will buy european cars… not GM’s that look like something…because they know better. regardless of what GM does, they are still catering to the same group of potential buyers IMO
i cant believe i read this gay thread.
In closing, I drive a pontiac.
:dunno:
Fords turn in the shitter begins Jan 06, stay tuned…
are you a nazi? first off what is wrong with Gm using parts across the lines? its a cost saver and makes sense. Even when GM wasn’t so corporate like back in the eraly 70’s, my A body Skylark/GS shares many parts with the cutlass, lemans, chevelle. You must be thinking that a chevy A arm isn’t as good as what a caddy a arm should be. Go on with ur german bull crap. not sayin they aren’t good cars but your rational is insane.
yeah, whats ur point? how much do volve wagons weigh? a nice loded regal limited weighs around 3900. So what if it did more damage. wait to you go to buy parts to fix that volvo compared to that of the g-body.
i cant believe i read this gay thread.
Me either. I’ve worked for Pontiac, Oldsmoblile, Cadillac, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Suzuki dealerships in various service and parts departments and I know that Japanese car companies and the vehicles that they build and sell are far better than General Motors (both as a company and their assorted vehicles).
I want to give the least money as i can to japan, fuckers snuck us.
The Japanese sneak attack at Pearl Harbor Hawaii (not an American state at the time, just a group of islands that we took over for strategic reasons) was the direct result of embargos forced upon Japan by the United States. By denying them essential steel, rubber, tin, and fuel oils (among other things) the Japanese were forced to become aggressive and fight for what they needed to survive as a country. The American embargo was largely concocted by sneaky political and industrial insiders who were only looking out for their own interests.
While I will agree that the Japanese army was quite brutal both on and off the battlefield and committed many attrocities against allied soldiers and civilians I personally do not hold anyone who currently works in the Japanese automotive industry responsible. Perhaps we should discuss why people in other countires feel angry against the United States because of all the “black ops” conducted by the CIA and all the “democratic” dictators that we’ve installed and propped up around the world over the last 50 years. The comparisons are the largely the same and the only the point of view is reversed.
Made in the USA is a good thing. Honda has been building excellent cars at a nonunion plant in Ohio for much longer than GM was building Craparos and Fireturds in Canda. American workers can be very productive and create quility products if they are properly supported by management, have well designed factories to work in, thoroughly engineered cars to build and a non-oppressive (ie. non-union) atmosphere. The problem is that GM workers are offered non of these tools and, as a direct result, the vehicle line up that GM markets is substandard in the automotive world and they are sold primarily with incentives and sales gimmicks and not on their individual merits.
In my experience, people who dislike Japanese cars have never owned them and come from a family that is either “Ford” or “Chevy”. This redneck mentality strikes me as odd because these very same people love shopping at Walmart (a company that sells primarily imported goods since Sam Walton died), and they don’t care where all of their electronic goods or clothes are produced. Plus, holding some sort of a grudge against an entire nation because of a war that took place 60 years ago reveals a lot about somebody’s (small) amount of intelligence. I can suggest several things to read if you would like a clearer picture of both history and world politics.
FUCK YOU JAP SYMPATHIZER. that is no reason for them to do what they did to SO MANY american service men.
FYI i’m not from a ford or chevy family but rather oldsmobiles. my dad has been a mechanic all his life and has fixed just about every car except stuff like ferrrari and lambo and if he tells me something is made like shit and is a piece of shit i tend to believe him.
PS Go fuck urself
good post gone so bad. gm sank their own ship
PS. japan is our only formidable ally on the other side of the world, even my grandfather who flew bombers in WW2 doesn’t hold any ill will towards japan anymore so kindly realize it’s not the 40’s anymore.
now if you wanna say f china i’m all with you. china is what japan was minus the ‘doing this for honor’ crap. they’re just dogs
GM made a bad as car in 73 the 4 rotor corvett but it never made it to production. . . GMRE ( General Motors Rotary Engine) was there greatest thing GM ever did to bad for the gas crisis of the 70s or most GMs today would be rotarys.
its only great to you cause i’m sure you love rotarys. thank God they didn’t, or we’d never have seen the LC2, LT5, LS1, L67.
This is true I love these motors as well.
Cost saver is exactly what I don’t want. When you look at a chevy, you think competitors are ford, honda but when you look at a caddy you think competitors are mercedes, lexus, bmw. There’s a big difference between the two. The luxury vehicles are suppose to be built better… and in some cases are. Why pay for a caddy if it’s a GM shitter with new bodypanels. That sure warrents 20k more.
P.S. They stopped making oldsmobile for a reason you know.
they sunk olds to keep makin saturds who had YET to turn a profit for GM. Gm is full of smart people
is caddy supposed to have all hand made parts specific to it? thats retarded. I guess caddy shouldn’t use that junk covette chassis cause its a chevy product? when you buy a luxury car like a caddy you are paying for all the extra shit like leather, etc etc… who the fuck cares if it shares a part with a lesser car. I bet a i could take a bolt out of a honduh and use it on a ferrari…OH its ruined !!!
