Steam Clean Engine

How can I get my engine clean to look almost like brand new again? I don’t have time to do it myself. Anyone know of a good detailer or shop that can clean up the engine. See the pic for yourself…it looks like a car with 52k miles on it. I want it to look like 500 miles…http://www.hamptoninfo.com/WRX/WRX-engine.jpg

get a bottle of simple green spray the motor down, then hose it off. it’s not good to spray the degreaser on a hot engine, or let it dry. both will stain the aluminum.

sleeper does detail work on the side

yeah. talk to sleeper

sleepgtp !!!

steam cleaning and powerwashing an engine is bad, you can end up forcing water into an electrical unit and gettin a short and never beable to find it. best way to do it is with some simplegreen, some brushes, rags and about 4 hours. I used to be a detailer and i guess liek sleeper i still do it on the side. i did it alot when i was station in california… this is my engine bay

haha

Last car i steam cleaned the engine bay of was a 1992 lincoln Mark 7. It ran two days, then the electric motor for the power brake booster was gone. I found two new ones in the country on in Cali, one in Monroeville, at the low, low price of around $3500.00. Junked the car, and never steamed one since. Not sure if it was the water or just a motor that went bad…

i pressure wash my motors probably on average every 2 months. sometimes more sometimes less. sailor knows how clean my vw motor was/is.

or jack it out and do it that way? I guess I do that every winter,

lol whats that all about?

I hosed down the 4.6 in my old Thunderbird once. Got water into the IAC and had to replace it. Fuck that, won’t risk it again.

i just hose my stuff of with car wash soap, the simple green stuff turns my pollished allum white and then i have to repolish it…

yeah i’d be worried about sprayin electric parts on a modern fuel injected motor. older motors will be fine i guess.

i’d like brushes, degreaser/simplegreen/engine brite…any of that. lots of rags, and some minor hose spray work. clean bucket of water with other fresh rags to help wipe down the work. should come out clean!!

dumb kids huh?

function > fashion

I’m just relating my singular, poor experience with hosing down an engine. If that makes me a “dumb kid”, oh well. :dunno:

i cover my electronics with plastic and go to town with a mild degreaser and hit it with the pressure washer. never had a problem!
