The beauty of symmetrical all-wheel drive. :bigblap:
I guess “Good in the winter” is a relative term. A 4-banger STI with limited clearance isn’t going anywhere fast when it gets deep enough, compared to a truck or SUV with 4L and a locking differential.
If you need 4L and a locking differential to get around then there is probably a driving ban out anyways so it won’t matter.
Come to think of it I never had to use 4lo or lock the diff in my jeep for anything but offroading?
1988 GMC s15 Jimmy. 4wd, locking rear diff, and 4.10 gears. Literally, I drove over a tree with it once and it didnt even phase it. That was a beast
I would do that with my Speed6. I have yet to even have any troubles when going through any type of snow in the winter. All four wheels with snow tires, AWD > *
I will never buy another FWD car again (as long as I don’t have to, due to unforseen financial circumstances…)
Stockers have a lot of ground clearance. My car is dropped 1in in the front and about 3/4 in the rear and works just fine in the snow. As long as I take my front lip off. I have only ever gotten stuck once and that is when I had all-seasons on it. Since using snow tires, I tried the same “getting stuck” maneuver again and walked right though.
Stock height
honestly the sti is the best thing i’ve driven in the snow hands down
and I dont even put on winter tires, i just drive on summer ones all year…have not gotten myself stuck, not even once
and whoever maid the locking dif comment, all sti’s can lock the dif…
Neat vid. That truck must have needed that last little bit of help to get up that hill.
My range rover with locking difs, and an air suspension that lifted to increase ground clearance got stuck more than my STI
I have a friend that lives in West Falls…
He got his brand new Dodge Ram stuck in some mud after he bought it…
But, he could drive circles around his stuck truck in a Subaru Justi (?sp)
So, he pulled his truck out with a backhoe then crushed the justi and put it into a pit.
suuuuure he did…
I was out of town for the storm you guys got in early December, and now I’m DYING to drive my STi in some good snow with these hakkas.
fuuuuuuu
ive always wanted to get an sti with a little trailer and pull my sled to the races
Pretty cool!!
A redneck I work with was so mad that a wrx pulled his shitty ranger out of snow a few weeks ago. Got there fine in my 15 yr old accord, Sally
ok thats fuckin sweet lol
I Havent gotten stuck in my talon
AWD and winter tires FTW, and the winter tires dont even have that much tread left on them
I Had a 4ft snow mound around my car when the plows came fine, i got out with no problems whatsoever
And my car is lowered like 1.5" all the way around
It’s great being able to go around town watching people in brly trucks with their plows get stuck
Point the wheel and give it gas, and it goes without hesitation
I wonder how many times this has been reposted by those retards on nasioc…
getting stuck is 99% tires though…
exactly, ranges have crazy wide tires.
