Still no 10.9s for my NA, cam only hoopty

Was looking for a 10.9 today. A lot of cars at NYI, it was the final point race and the fridged nationals event.
Drove the car to the track with the slicks in the back, changed them and drove home http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.ls1tech.com/get/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif Like always, cars never been tailored. 1st pass was like WTF when I didn’t see the 10.99, had the front shocks tight. Its been yanking them alot more the needed. Think it spun a bit, didn’t yank the car that hard. 2step at 6400 But with the spool and summit rear shock I traded form BigKap that car feels slow, but its smooth and strait now.

Loosen up the shocks, But some oil down, sat for like 3.5 hours cleanup. And it was in the 50’s so cold. I wanted to drive the car to warm it up the trans was really notchy being ice cold. Waited in TnT line for a while, lined up with my NeonGLH that went a 11.01 Cut a good light, 60’s hooked 1.499 no bog, 10.84 :slight_smile:

Wanted to get a 10.7 thinking that was top10 maybe cam only list? I remembered the 10.99 10.75 was reallllly tight. Pulled the paper airfilter., and got in line. It was getting cold and not alot of fast cars. Didn’t yank the wheels that hard, so probably had to much wheel speed? Backed up the 10.86… But the 127.5 is flyin’ for what the car is. LS1 with stock unported 241 heads, no power adder, fast92/92, SLP lid, headers, stock cat back no cutout. Same way I drive it everyday, just the wheels. This was though that old 94-96 LT1 SLP 2OTL (2 on the left) catback even. I thought about making another pass but was happy with that and wanted to get going to eat.

I don’t think I’m gona drive it to the shootout this weekend in Memphis TN . I did last year its really fun, but the DRs are getting bald and dont have better tires, and will be hitting rain for sure. Its like a 2,400 mile trip just there, and I gona visit brent strong in Nashvillle. So like to tailor it, I want to go all out anyway, and see what it would run in race mode like alot of the other cars. So I can take the exhaust off, interior stuff. The tune on it now is with a no screen 85mm MAF, Mike from NewEra did for a quick inspection tune last month. Shit still runs great, and realllly fast. I want to run no MAFF, and get a SD tune with the open headers, or short tubes off the headers if I need to. I think shawna from *** got some vids too.

What was the DA?

It was awesome yesterday. Traction would have been a problem, but they kept it great since the Frigid Nationals were going on. Temps were down around 49 degrees with a slight tailwind. A lot of people got their best times yesterday :tup:

It sucks that I had my worst run against John when he had his best run, lol.

Congrats on those times, you definitely worked hard to get it. I wish my car was there yesterday. My ignition box took a shit on me Saturday night.

Traction was great yesterday. My worst 60’ of the day was a 1.301. The starter told me the DA was around 700ish at around 12:30-1 which is great for a track @ 900ft. Congrats to those who got new bests!

Congrats. That car is flying. I cannot belive that your 415rwhp car is trapping 127 mph. My car makes mid 5xx rwhp/ 6xx rwtq with spray and I trap right at 127. I think it’s time I move on.

thanks, Ya I’m really happy for running this fast, but other then added the fast92/92 setup its been making the same power for a long time now. The 1st day I raced it after putting the this cam in was that maxium track rental day last spring. It was making 420whp on smaller non DR, and 3:73 gears. Ran a 11.5 122 I think on these same slicks and rims. Just a lot of little things that added up, and good driving. Its crazy too it back the times up so well, for a 6speed car. If it was a 10.8 127 one time and some 11.0s I would think it was a hotdog wrapper got the 127.45 for the setup, LOL
