STM Tuned's Project X

With no cage or harness bar, how would you mount the back brace?

you buy a harness bar and bolt it on.

If it runs into that much of an issue I’ll have a harness bar made for the car. Not like it’s an impossible thing to do

It’s not an issue until something happens in which case you’re already injured

Just wanted to let you know a lot of people don’t read the info from kirkey on proper installation

Someone said daily up there before, I assume that was just a theoretical question? lol

I would assume Austin or Cory or emery would have said something if it was a big safety issue
I did mention before that I thought the seats needed to be braced by something but I didn’t know if that was for track rules or an installation recommendation to make the seat stronger.

Track wheels came in

I like those

yeah that’s pretty bad. I hope STM warned you against this. (or are planning a harness bar that likely removes a lot of the weight gains.) Since they are on sliders :picard: make sure you factor in one of those special braces that has a pin and holes so you can move the seat to different positions.

STM drilling those rims?

They’ll be fine. They more or less have free reign over the car but thanks for your concern. As far as drilling the rims it might happen yeah

just because this is a big deal, I’m going to share this, that said, I’m not here to shit up your thread so I’ll let it go after this:

Considering those aren’t stock sliders and I don’t drive the car a ton I’m sure what they’ve done/figured out will be just fine

Isn’t your goal to set some 1/4 mile records? What will track tech say about it?

if it were me I would be a little more concerned about my safety rather than relying on “what they’ve done/figured out”

WOW those seats look like COMPLETE SHIT in that car. Get the OEM seats back in ASAP.

This is why I refrain from posting things on here. He has a goal for the car and these seats help him achieve his goal. You’re not going to be sitting in them. Get over it.

Function over Form man. Thats what going fast is about.

And there’s something wrong with the OEM recaros? And I’m sorry but trapping 111mph isn’t fast

Well in his case I think it’s all about weight, what the rough weight on the OEM seats, 48# for passenger and roughly 40# for driver. The kirkey seats are a huge weight difference, but I would add a little more weight and make sure they are braced properly.
