Those seats weigh in at 40+ pounds each. When you going to break records everything needs to be lighter.
HOLY FUCK BRAH 40 LBS EACH!!! that’s insannnnneeeeeee better put a fucking cardboard box in place of my perfectly functioning, 40 lb ain’t gonna do shit, seats that I had.
This is how i feel. Its borderline obnoxious some of the people here.

Im done with you. I can see that you don’t understand what it takes to break records. Read though some other build threads about going fast and breaking records and you will see all this is 100% necessary. Innovative’s Track car is stripped and weight reduced everywhere. Should he of just driven it stock and expect the same results? :ham:
Right however most major racing organizations won’t let you race without those seats being back braced because it’s an issue.
So between that and the manufacture saying how they NEED to be installed a certain way I would go with their thoughts on the subject and not yours.
Please tell me he is going to run stock seat belts with these?
I’m not sure how some of you function in the real world
YO DUDE DONT WORRY!!! The sphinx man said it’s ok he’s gonna buy this X owner the wheel chair when he crashes
That was my next question/area of concern.
And don’t get it wrong I think STM does great work and produces great cars.
Man it must be the dead of winter…
Nice work, to trying to make your car faster. I’m sure the others on here are more worried about spewing the hate than your actual safety. :bloated:
X…
I would think the stock seat belts would be better than a harness ? If you want to be a super safety nazi , harnesses will hurt you in a roll over with no cage. So in this case the stock seat belts would be best (how would you mount them with no harness bar anyway?)
I don’t see this car rolling over but you never know.
This
That is the concept they’re race seats and require a harness
The design of the seats in most cars doesn’t allow the stock seat belts to fit tightly defeating the purpose of them.
If the OP accepts the risk that is fine with me I would rather have people be informed. However people arguing that it is safe when it’s clearly not is hilarious.
It seems the best option is … No seat belts ! Lol
one time on here @fairgentleman Z called me out on this poor design:
we were focused on not being taken out of the race if we got some mild bumps from behind. My attitude was very much “things will be just fine” but after debate we took the bars out.
This happened at the next race, if the driver had taken the full shock of the impact through that bar he probably would have needed more than just an ambulance ride back to the pits. This was probably a 30mph hard impact into the same style barriers used at drag strips, this evo is trapping into the triple digits.
I never really thanked @fairgentleman Z for motivating this change, but if I see something unsafe like seats people often bend with vise grips to fit them better not being supported at all up top I’m going to mention it and it’s not because I want to be a hater.
There’s a difference between this troll stuff AVB is posting and legit concern about a serious safety issue.
Cleaning thread. Back in a minute.

Thread re-opened, posts about who’s faster moved to here: http://www.shift518.com/showthread.php?279121-CALLOUT-AVB-vs-psphinx81
My digested opinion is this.
Factory seats heavy / over built. They can recline and support your body weight x mucho G’s.
FIA seats lighter with steel bracing or carbon fiber. Don’t recline and support your body weight x mucho G’s.
Non FIA “race” seats may be even lighter but may not be as strong as above. Suggested to be braced in the back to support body weight x mucho G’s.
What is a hard impact? 30G’s , 50G’s… take your body weight, multiply by 30 or 50, will the seat back support that? There is also seat deflection, if a seat deflects back, seat belts get looser, the shoulder could come out from underneath the belt and or harness.
That’s not to say the best non FIA certified seat isn’t better than the worse FIA seat. Just a quick generalization.
I’m interested still. Looks meaty.
Waiting to see it break some records… So yeah, interested.
X…
@05OrangeSS, keep it coming man. This is a car forum, so yes there will be haters.
Legit concern here, though… what have you done with seat bracing?
