a_ahmed. Your car still auto? Wow you are fucking cool with racing seats, big brakes and an auto tranny. weak man… fucking weak. you must drive like a retard to so plz go crash your auto 240 that you paid like 5k and when you die I can get your crazyyyyy!!!1111 brakes.
my dd stops fine, i havnt even looked at hte brakes since i bought the car. lol and to tell you the truth when i just went out and looekd at them, my rear calipers are seized i belive. anyways. predictable driving is where its at. on the hwy and streets its not hard and i never had a problem with fade i have also been to track events.
For 3 years I ran 180sx calipers with brembo blanks and Hawk HPS pads on the track. I have a stock KA. There were very few instances where I was able to fad my brakes.
On Shannonville full track I’d stay out on track for sometimes over 1 hour without pitting. They only thing I found was I had to bleed brakes after every track outing because my brake fluid would simply break down and the pedal would feel mushy. I fixed this problem buy using Motul RBF-600 brake fluid.
Last season when I started doing serious lapping and this year before I started racing in solo 1 I found with slicks my HPS pads didn’t have enough bite at higher temperatures because of higher speeds and lower breaking distances actually needed. I fixed this problem by upgrading to Hawk HP+ pads. I can lock my slicks up easily, I have never faded my brakes once.
Lets reiterate:
V-710 slicks
1 hour on track
180sx calipers
brembo blank rotors
Hawk HP+ pads
RBF-600 fluid
No fading
I ran stock brakes way back in the day and I never had any problems on the street. You guys are on crack.
Furthermore, if you are running big power nothing bigger than 300zx brakes are necessary. My mentor Adam Hutchinson had a 450whp KA-T he raced for many years. He uses brembo blanks, and Hawk HT-10’s with RBF-600. Before this when he had lower hp KA-T he used only Hawk Blues. If you guys think 300zx brakes arn’t enough, you are on crack.
Andrew.
EDIT: a_hamed, I own a Ford Tempo as a winter beater, I’ve done brakes on it twice in 3 years…thats because I keep eating through brakes. The frigging car can’t stop worth shit, it has rear drums and front discs. The front discs are so small they might as well use drum brakes so it might actually have good initial stopping power.
Now I said I have never been to the track yes I admit, but I guess your cool and if i put my granma on the track and said do a couple of laps she would have authority and suddenly know everything about everything about cars and she could talk down to people on the 240 forum who are giving some test result from something they tried. And if you can read, and use your head before your mouth, I said I was TESTING it out on the street, deliberately pushing the brake. Your talking about braking from far away when there is a car in front of you, FYI there was no cars on the street I WAS TESTING MY BRAKES OUT, use your fuckin eyes and read.
But I guess it doesn’t matter you’ve been to the track.
I will give u a report after the 25th, with pictures, if my brakes are fading you owe me a blowjob and if their glowing you have to swallow.
Are you retarded, your telling me that using proper pads is going to make them not glow, when proper pads are going to have more friction even when there hot. And if you mean proper pads and rotors as in 300zx I said Ive never tried those and I don’t know about them. You guys are all lowlifes this forum is so degrading now. This is exactly the kind of shit thats is make this forum a laughing stock. Admins you arn’t doing too good of a job keeping this shit talking down.
hahaha idiot do you know who you’re talking to?
is it me or do some of these posts make no sense? agh…it’s all entertaining lol
For once I can agree with crsbb. However, he did not spend 5k on it. He spent over $16,000 (he posted this as well) and all he has is a automatic KA S13 that brakes better than his dad’s ford taurus. wow.
Also, did no one listen to andrew? What’s with everyone thinking that you need 300zx brakes? It’s also funny since most people who want 300zx brakes don’t ever plan to track their car. It’s just a waste of money. Better pads + fluid + rotors is more than enough for the street. It’s also trackable. However, you probably wouldn’t be able to stay on the track for an hour non stop if you’re driving your car really hard. But don’t quote me on that.
On another note killa snake, since we’re talking about brakes here, I think you should stop posting ahmed-like advice on this board.
And if you don’t like this board, you should just fade away.
Thanks.
i’m using HP+ up frt w/ brembo blank rotors(ABS spec) w/ HPS and no name rotor at the rear… DOT4 fluid w/ stk KADE
i have no problem pushing it(it was my first lapping so i donno how to drive…) for over 30minutes no fade at all, i pitted after that cuz my tires are losing grip…
Since everyone is talking bout brakes i wanted to know if 300zx brakes with hawk pads would be good for my 95 240 with a s14 blacktop?
brakes are dependent on tires… the bigger grippier rubber you have the more brakes you can use and the harder your brakes will work
if you’re playing around on stock rims and rubber …300zx brakes will be plenty
thats more than enough for both track and street usage.
Perfect setup Vincent, thats what I’ve been running as well, except with the 180sx calipers up front and Motul fluid. You will do great with this setup on stock motor.
Andrew.
Thought I’d throw this out there incase many of you arent aware but… you can use a J30/Q45 Caliper in place of the 180sx Caliper etc as both the J30 and Q45 also use a 280mm x 22mm Rotor.
So you can go from a single piston caliper and a 254mm x 20mm rotor to a dual piston caliper witha 280mm x 22mm rotor.
This upgrade should also be cheaper then buying 180sx crap since you should be able find the Calipers @ a junk yard for no more then $30 each
LOL. So if you don’t know how to drive and fade your brakes on the track I’m wrong? The asshattery here is endless.
i also got a pair of 90ish maxima frt calipers w/ bracket(same caliper size as 240’s ABS spec, but the braket carrys bigger pads, and is the 180sx setup as i read on here b4) on the junk yard’s free parts day, going to send them down to the machine shop to clean them up, hopfully i can put them on next year
but i’m still happy w/ wat i have for now
locked.
all but a few of you are utterly retarded.
never talk about something you dont know. especially if you are talking about it on the internet.
google is NOT your friend… a hand gun is. use it. and end yourself.
