Ok, I am posting this on behalf of Chris (canadiandrifter240sx), and hopefully he is ok with it.
Tuesday June 7th, car blows an oil line, spills her guts and throws a rod.
This is the story…
This is the hole the rod made.
This is where the rod landed (I was not kidding when I said it THREW a rod).
And the other side of the hole (yes, it actually puctured the steel).
Some of the crap that came out, Block pieces, piston pieces, piston squirter, oil ring, rod pin retaining ring, various bearing shavings, etc…
Ok, it’s 8:30 Friday night and we just picked up this motor from Jacky Ngai (excelent guy to deal with btw).
You want to see 1 happy dude…
This was at like 11:30 or something, getting towed from Jesse’s place to my dads shop in Beamsville.
Ok, if you can see the clock, it is like 5 to 12, and we are just getting into it.
It would have been an hour and a half if we didn’t stop to get coffees, but it is now 1:40 and it is out.
ARGHH!! Now all we have to do is change plugs, injectors, exh manifold, oil pan, etc…
Check out the nice array of parts found here in the oil pan. Can you name some of the pieces?
Ok, it is 9:00 am and the car came out of the shop under it’s own power!
And running like a charm. Better then the last one even!
This was about 4 hours later (after the shop clean-up and 3 hour (test)drive to Shannonville)
Looks like everything is working well as Maurice takes me around for a ride in his Sweet s13 with fresh Silk Road Coils. Nice.
Hehe, a little scare, the hood insulation catches on fire at the end of the last run. No real damage here.
AND…A free plug for me and my ride!
I hope you enjoyed Chris’ little story.
