Story of Dedication --pics--

Ok, I am posting this on behalf of Chris (canadiandrifter240sx), and hopefully he is ok with it.

Tuesday June 7th, car blows an oil line, spills her guts and throws a rod.

This is the story…

This is the hole the rod made.

This is where the rod landed (I was not kidding when I said it THREW a rod).

And the other side of the hole (yes, it actually puctured the steel).

Some of the crap that came out, Block pieces, piston pieces, piston squirter, oil ring, rod pin retaining ring, various bearing shavings, etc…

Ok, it’s 8:30 Friday night and we just picked up this motor from Jacky Ngai (excelent guy to deal with btw).

You want to see 1 happy dude…

This was at like 11:30 or something, getting towed from Jesse’s place to my dads shop in Beamsville.

Ok, if you can see the clock, it is like 5 to 12, and we are just getting into it.

It would have been an hour and a half if we didn’t stop to get coffees, but it is now 1:40 and it is out.

ARGHH!! Now all we have to do is change plugs, injectors, exh manifold, oil pan, etc…

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/Theo23/motor%20swap/POS.jpg

Check out the nice array of parts found here in the oil pan. Can you name some of the pieces?

Ok, it is 9:00 am and the car came out of the shop under it’s own power!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/Theo23/motor%20swap/Out.jpg

And running like a charm. Better then the last one even!

This was about 4 hours later (after the shop clean-up and 3 hour (test)drive to Shannonville)

Looks like everything is working well as Maurice takes me around for a ride in his Sweet s13 with fresh Silk Road Coils. Nice.

Hehe, a little scare, the hood insulation catches on fire at the end of the last run. No real damage here.

AND…A free plug for me and my ride!

I hope you enjoyed Chris’ little story.

glad to see you benefitted in the end

Nice story! Yeah chris is amazing with engine swaps! he did mine in about 10 hours too! glad to hear everything went well in the end.

this has got to be like the 4th or 5th over night swap for chris in that same chassis… he’s NUTS!

Lol, someone make a nice PWNED!!! pic out of the thrown rod.

Thats dedication though

Yeah, not sure about the over night numbers, but this is the 9th engine in this car.

42 hours without sleep for him and myself.

Good times!

Either that speaks a lot for Chris, or very little for the KA

good job :)glad to see you had awesoeme time @ the track too

AMAZING!

Thank you all for your coments. It should be noted that Theo was also up all night with me doing tthe swap and also drove to the track next day.
This swap would not have been done with out the help of Theo and the use of his fathers shop.

The reason that i go through so many engines is because I usually put in a engine that is already %80 dead and I just finish them off. Its fun that way I can treat the engine how ever I want untill it blows.

However this last engine was a 95 which only had around 125k and I was being semi nice to it but things do happen and things go boom.

This is engine # 9 for this chassis I balieve, this is the 4th KADE to be turbo’d in that chassis and I have yet do destroy an engine useing the turbo. Well the first KA I turbo’d only lasted 15 min before It lost all compression and would not run any more, but i think the engine was toast before we put it in.

This chassis now has over 370km and like I said its the 9th engine. As sad as it sounds I think it is almost time to retire her or atleast demote her to a winter beater. I now have a clean chassis that i will be building up so soon I will have a rustlerss car (Y)

Chris we will all be glad to see you with a nice 240. You deserve it

Andrew.

Is it just me or does everytime a KA throws a Rod its on Cylinder 1 behind the A/C Bracket?

Hmmm…
