So I noticed my whole driver side front strut tower is coming off the frame… theres a split from the frame about 2-3 inches wide now it looks really bad I can see my tire looking down, i’m not sure if the car is a goner.
Is this a regular problem with the 240sx? Its odd because the cause of the strut tower splitting is rust but the rest of the car is in good shape, The frame rails are in good shape and the other strut tower is in excellent shape. Underbody looks good.
I got a few quotes and they are VERY high, anyone here ever had such a repair done? if so how much did you pay and where did you get it done?
Can anyone recommend a shop or person that can do this repair for a fair price?
I love the car and I really dont wanna see this one become junk. Any help would be appreciated.
I’ll get pictures of the strut tower this weekend and put em up. I just did the exhaust recently and on the lift the underbody/frame rails were in pretty good condition. Also just put some Toyo tires on the car with lots of meat. I stored her during the winter. Just hate to see her put to sleep heh I was quoted from 2500-3000 with no guaranteed work (ouch). At times like this i wish i took up weilding/bodywork. I guess the car may go up in the for sale section soon as a project car or parts car… I barely got to enjoy her paint is still very good and a awesome color. Really hoping something can be done without costing a fortune. Only got to enjoy the car for 5 months.
I’ll try to get pics of the strut tower asap and maybe you guys can tell me if anything can be done… or point me to someone who can do the work for a good price.
Dont sound so down, but then I havents seen pics yet, but if its only about 3 inch long that shouldnt be a problem to weld up, well discuss more after the pics are posted this weekend.
omg i wanted to buy taht car, but i didn’t have money, and for months after it was sold i kept telling everyone on my msn how i was so pissed that this car got sold for 3400 cause i wanted it hahaha.

Also, I hate when people cut corners, I mean how can the old owner blow money on paint when the body needs work, honestly? Before I paint my car every tiny rust spot is getting fixed…

The strut tower was completely intact with no visible rust seemed really solid when it was purchased just seemed to change so quickly. Where it split is where the strut tower is welded to the frame. Anyhow I get pics up soon so you guys can assess what options I have and go from there.
