Stupid f'ing Porsches

Just creating a thread where I can post some of this Porsche stuff I do here. Some typical stuff, some off the wall shit. Here’s one from this past week.

When one 10.5" x 11" x 2.25" oil cooler and fan isn’t enough to keep temps down…add yet another!!

Upgraded this '93 RSA track car to a twin cooler setup. Even with my labor this setup is still far cheaper through me than if you bought it from Cargraphic or RUF.

I just wated to post some pictures of the completed fab and install of this twin cooler setup. Used and OEM 965 cooler for the second unit. Fabbed up some .060" aluminum backing plates to direct the air through the cooler. Quite simple really. Used the OEM mounts to fix to the cooler. Requires just a simple L bend upper bracket and a ~10" lower support to hold the second cooler in place off OEM mount points(for AC which is not on this car)

Here are the 12an line I made up. Both about 7 feet long. One has a 180 fitting on either end and the other has a 150 degree fitting and then one straight fitting:

The lines attached to the secondary cooler. 180 fitting to the rear and 150 to the front. It’s a tight squeeze to get these to clear the headlight pocket and inner frame rail but they do fit. Cooler is mounted off the factory points created for the AC condenser. Fit the cooler first, front line, then rear line in that order to give you room to properly tighten the fittings:

12an straight fitting and 12an straight hose end. Connect this to the OEM line first and tighten down before installing the stock cooler or you will not have the room to tighten later on:

180 hose end attached to stock cooler.

To prevent the line from scratching and/or heating the paint where the lines would run I ran 2100F fiberglass heat reflective tape to the body:

And finally I like to keep lines a bit loose and free to move around as to prevent binding on the fittings which can cause a leak. The lines are incased by a piece of 7005 heat treated aluminum plate riveted to the nose(Lightweight armor plating really). This car does not have the bumper supports as to where you would normally affix the lines to. RSA race car = lightweight is the name of the game. This plate keeps the lines recessed so if the car take a nose shot at speed, the lines will not get pinched and cut off, starving the engine of oil.

Tis all for now.
