Subaru Burning Plastic Smell

For the past couple months my car has had a burning plastic/rubber smell to it. Seems to only happen when the heat is on 3 or 4, or the heated seats are on. Mainly smell it when the car is idle or parked. I was trying to wait till 8,000 miles to take it to the dealer for an oil change as well. If this is something that is common then I can fix it myself and avoid driving out to OP with it. I’d probably have to take a day off work as well.

Any Ideas? It’s a 2010 Legacy.

Do you have rubber floor mats?

When I’m cranking the heat to the footwells, my subaru all-weather floor mats get a nice warm plastic smell… mmmm.

If that is the case then bravo to subaru for having killer floor heat. My feet are always cold in the winter in my touareg

Yeah I got the All Weather Package…I guess I’ll try swapping them out with the stock ones, once the weather stops fucking being shitty. Still got 700 mi before I want to get an oil change.
