jesus christ, well i recently bought a gr sti off a member not too long ago…
love the car, its everything i would want in a daily driver.
thats all im going to say about the car to keep this semi short&sweet.
heres what happends:
my car didnt come with fog lights, so i bought the fogs of a iwsti member.
had to replace he wiper stalk for the fog switch.
steering wheel came off, stalk went in, clock spring and angle sensor rewound properly.
now the traction control, hill assist and dccd monitor are lit up. i do a little search and find that my clock spring is most likely broken. so i take the wheel back off and the spring off…its perfect, no damage.
take it to the dealer to see if the codes need to be reset.
they agree it is probably just a code problem it will be resolved.
the service rep then asks if the car is stock, i say yes with the exception of suspension.
he then loses his fucking mind.
“O THATS THE PROBLEM RIGHT THERE! subarus cannot be lowered, it throws off the angle of everything causing damage to the gears in the diff, even centimeters can ruin gears. if you want to lower it you need to remove the diffs”
i guess subaru didnt factor in suspension travel or a car full of people and now everyones gears are fucked…
so i left the dealer, now with downs, and will prepare myself for my appointment on tuesday to see what these techs can find out…i cant wait to hear what kind of horshit they come up with to not warranty my shit.

i will never ever go back to northtown subaru, they are a bunch of idiots there (except for shawn) it took them almost 2 months to fix a bad cat because they ordered the wrong parts and didnt inspect it properly. they replaced the wrong cat and noticed it only after they took the one that was fine off so i had so come back when the right one came back in. then they again installed/ordered the wrong part when they had to replace my secondary air valve, instead of finding out what valve was the problem they just did the one that was easiest to fix this was just as the manager just got done telling me how they had a similar problem on another wrx and they did the same thing. i had him pull the records of the car and they replaced the wrong one 2 other times in the same year so it really never got fixed until i brought it in.
my last time there i asked them to order me another jack for the car and they said they would call when it came in…well i have not heard a thing so i called and they told me it still didnt come in and it has been 3 months now probably longer…they probably didnt even order it.
went in for service for a check engine light, they replaced the exhaust manifold for whatever reason. they didn’t hook up all the vac lines when they put the IC back in…yea i went back a bit pissed
just called, shawn isnt in till thursday.fuck.
i have an appointment tuesday for this problem and id rather wait for shawn, but this 24-7 locked diff is making me nervous…well either way the previous service guy said it would be no problem to drive it with the diffs acting this way, so fuck it. slip away clutches, slip away.
