hmmm, travis. :nono… Tom is very much entitled to joining in, he builds engines, is a certified mechanic, etc. and hes not a boy. hes much your elder and mine as well.
Open opportunity for old man jokes here people. Just FYI.
he is pretty old I met him at a v2 g2g :lol but from what I got out of talking to him, he knows a hell of alot about cars :nod
he works for synapse
Nah he just talks a mean game. Rubbin’ meat is where he really shines.
:crackup I’m hilarious.
oh I just figured he had allstymers and was talkin out his ass :crackup :
this I know… I was giving a reason why people weren’t and shouldn’t get involved
oh, whoops, it looked like a reply to his post. :confused
anyways, i hope party a with the suby gets it fixed and running!
This is my last post in the thread and only here to say that what Paul said here is pretty much guaranteed to be true. I can easily go and dig up the records at the machine shop to show exactly what was done to this block if it in fact was done here, which I don’t doubt is the case. I wasn’t aware that this case even stepped foot in the door here. Dan or Gary did the work in any event.
And just to show engine savy and show a tech point…if the case WAS line honed the there would have been bigger incidentals on the final assembly bill from Synapse that WOULD HAVE been done to the motor, like adjusting piston/compression heights and adjusting piston to valve clearances as a result as both halves of the case are decked, then line honed evenly effectively shortening the width of the block head surface to head surface. If they’re not there on the bill, the case wasn’t line honed.
Just felt the need to back what Paul said there. Not like I can get any more burned in this thread than what’s been done. I’m just going to keep my mouth shut next event. And no I’m not picking sides! No sides! No sides! Facts only! :ahh !!!
I won’t close this thread, there’s actually very good information in it about many things in here. And if it is locked, I’d just unlock it.
Tom > Travis, though.
And rofl @ rubbin’ meat.
I have every right to say what i please to Paul, he’s an old and good friend.
Travis can’t wait to meet you, and laugh my balls off as to how fucking stupid, ignorant and immature you are. That being said you have alot of problems there bud- perhaps Karma is showing you exactly how the world works. You suck, so everything you do sucks. How are the cops treating you lately?
p.s. clark you are so blacked flagged at calabogie it isn’t even funny
Pfft. I’m going to EARN a black flag long before you can give me one.
Damn you :angry2
We’ll I guess you’ll have to drive like an ass to keep up with me. :crackup
I dont have to drive like an ass, I choose to.
Someone better tell everyone at the driver’s meeting to get the fack out of the way of the dueling Rocco and E36 banging doors and punting each other off the track.
Holy crap we are going to have soooooooo much fun. Our cars need wheel rub marks on them any way.
Seriously considering making a tire donut on my door BEFORE we go. You want in?
:gay
The was no line hone or crank work performed ever. Like Adam said, there would be much more work and money involved and there was no need for any of it in the first place. Morgan checked this morning to make sure there was no mistake in our billing or accidental charges to Jay, there were none. Maybe it was brought up in a estimate of some sort before any work was done. The bearings were in great condition when the motor came apart both times. The bottom end of the engine and heads are in top notch shape with no oil related failures ever.
It only blew a headgasket, so lets look at that also. When the cam snapped and cosworth replaced all of them for us, I had removed the one cylinder head to check and make sure all was well. Block and head were in good shape and as flat as when it was machined. Sometimes the surface can get minor blemishes from heat expansion along the gasket or other little imperfections. Seeing as the motor had 6-7k on it and the sealing surfaces were still in great shape and I saw no reason to machine anything. If the headgasket blew that badly and wrinkled up because I chose not to resurface a clean, flat cylinder head then shame on me. Maybe the EJ25 defies all common and proper assembly checks and practices and you have to be one of the chosen few to get it right. By my research, failures can and have occured on any major subaru engine builders including cosworth and RAW. Its even clearly outlined on his website what to do when a motor lets go. Obviously, the most stout engine can fail if there is something wrong down the line after it is installed and ran. If this was failure was my fault then we would take necessary steps to correct the problem, but I have not seen it. I never blamed anybody. We all make mistakes and nobody is perfect. Anyone here who knows me or synapse tends to stick up because they know we are not some know it all pricks who have never been wrong.
Paul is good shit. everytime i get my car back he gives me the “father son” talk about treating the motor right, and keeping up in the maintenance. I know for a fact that he checks and double checks everything and without a doubt does it on everything he works on. It’s just the way he is. So no matter how much morgan drains my bank account :lol, i feel good leaving knowing paul built my car. :nod
Thanks Swift, now get an s2k so I can borrow it and do some donuts :bowdown
