Hey guys I just got some new subframe bushings and i can’t find any info on how to do any part of the process.
Is this the right place? And what do i do???
Wow nice rust.
If you have bought OEM nissan bushing your in for a fun job.
Drop subframe
torch out old bushing
cut throught outer sleave
press in new bushing.
yes that is the correct spot, there should be four in the car.
Oh shit man, sorry, i forgot to get back to you on that. Did you buy the ones that completely replace the old ones, or the slotted ones that just slide in?? Ive done the harder ones on my car, and the other ones are really easy. Add me to msn freeride_86@hotmail.com
I bought these off of allen. Polyurethane i think…
Yeah, those are just subframe tilt spacers. Do you want the car to drift easier?
who doesn’t, unless that means it will just keep on going and spin all the time…
no horsepower needs all the help it can get
Ok, that means you want your car to have “anti-squat” characteristics. Anyway, here is the whiteline installation manual for the product.
Awesome, good info! Now there is only one question, so i just place the bushing either on top/ or under the subframe mounts, I don’t have to remove the stock bushings?
No those dont replace or do anything to do with the stock bushings…they merely tilt the subframe a bit. The metal collars or bushings are a better solution as they pretty much eliminate wheel hop all together and they stiffen things up, whereas these only reduce wheel hop and the difference you feel between settings is neglegable.
I had these, then i installed the solid aluminum bushings, and the solid aluminum ones are more harsh, but they stiffen the back of the car up and they eliminate wheel hop completely.
I have an ITSY BITSY problem. I did the left side, it went ok, but when i started to do the right side, the rear mounting bolt went fine but the front stud broke on me. Is there any way to fix this? or is this stud go into the whole floor/frame of the car and cant be changed? and if you can change it would you have to take the whole subframe diff exhaust off? :help :wall:
Shiiiiiiiiit. You’re fucked.
Subframe bolts are a huge pain in the ass to fix.
there are a couple write up on www.freshalloy.com on how to do it.
Basicly there are two ways. Strip out the interior. find where bolt is and drill a hole. Weld in new bolt
Or buy a new section of frame from nissan with bolt and weld that in.
We cut a hole in the floor and drilled a hole through the bolt, I am just trying to find a suitable replacement bolt right now. Umm is it ok to drive around like this? The other 3 are still good and they are all tight… :shhh:
HELL NO
Take the nut to edmonton nut and bolt. Tell them you need a bolt to fit this about ___ long. Tell them you need the strongest thing they have.
Kind of a long drive from Lethbridge for a bolt don’t ya think Rob?
Just go to a bolt place. Someone with 10.9
bolt supply house. 12th ave north in the industrial. Kinda by Joss tech by the ol rugby field. They can get anything.
Alright, I couldnt remember where they were.
Wow… i finally got a new bolt in today, and not a moment to soon either. The bolt i put in just to get me around was all bent when i took it out today.
