subframe rail welding cost

Hey hows it going I bought a 240 recently and to my supriase after it was taken to a mechanic it turns out the guy that sold it to me bondod the rails in 2 places now I cant get my car safteyed and certified. I dont plan to keep but still want to get it welded then sell it so the next owner doesnt have to go through the ordeal of finding out they have 2 holes in their frame. Can someone give me a rough quote on much much it would cost to get these 2 rails welded or if they are willing to weld them for some cash. The holes are about 6 inches long in the back and roughly 4 in the front driver side rail. If anyone is intrested in helping out/welding ill send you pics to your email since I dont have a webhost.

EDIT* mod plz move to help wanted section

Hey there sorry to hear about your bad luck. For other new members please check the What to look for when buying a 240 guide http://www.son240sx.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2514 it talks about stuff like this. I would have to say if your rear subframe is that bad I would not be surprised if the rear quaters are either rotten or were given the same quick bondo treatment so check that out as well. Its not going to be cheap to get fixed from what I can know frame work is not just an easy fix. So first some questions you need to ask.

What did you pay for the car? is it really worth sinking 500?600?+ dollars to fix and resell?

Can you find perhaps a clean rear subframe from another member or junkyard, I would think it would be cheaper and would give you a better part.

Other then that all I can say is do not buy a car without a etest or cert esp a car like a 240.

a lot of shops charge about 70 bucks an hour, so your looking at quite an expensive repair

subframe ? you can get another one and replace it, I think you are talking about the frame rail and not the subframe, go to a welder and have them replace those parts with the same grade metal, shouldnt be more than 4-5 hours x 60~$/hr so around 300-350 bucks ? do you have any pics ?

I think he means framerail, not front or rear subframe.

Subframes hold our suspension…

I paided 1600 for the car :s so I’m definatly gonna want to do the job. And yes I ment the fram rail not the subframe, and its rotted in the usual driver side front rail, and also the rear right rail that hold the gas tank up.
