Sunday DIY, hot tub steps

I recently picked up a hot tub and decided I needed a set of steps to get in/out of it. $35 in pressure treated lumber and a couple hours later.

And all stained and ready to go:

They’re free standing so I can move them any time I want. That cross piece I installed across the back makes them so sturdy I can stand on them and shift my weight side to side and they don’t move so much as a 1/4".

And yes, staining the deck is the next project on the list.

Awesome dude…

why didn’t you just modify the deck to you can just climb into it from there?

You know your getting old when your sunday consists of a project like this…

he has kids… so probably not the safest thing…

and technically it would be illegal/against code if he didnt put a gate on it…

with the moveable stairs he can just move the stairs away to protect the kids…

didn’t think of the kids angle, fair point.

That was my plan at first, but then the step into the hot tub is big one. The steps I built are on the side toward the recliner seat which makes a nice way of stepping into the tub.

I’ll still probably modify the deck too (with a gate I can lock) but I need to put some work into leveling it before I do any other work to it. The main deck is fine but that landing the hot tub is against hasn’t settled at the same rate so it’s off by a little bit.
