Sunroof not closing completely

Im pretty sure ALL coupe sunroofs stop 2/3 of the way, at leat mine does, then just re-press the close button and it goes all the way.

Im sure you tried that, so what youre saying Theo is that once it stops 2/3 of the way, it wont go any further back… hmm well thats a new one, never heard of anything like that.

Ok, so I opened the sunroof in my s13 coupe to pass a whoolie to my buddy that was standing outside. When I went to close it, it stopped about 2/3rds closed.

I haven’t looked into it much yet but it is almost like the sensor thinks it is closed, as the motor stops. It will open all the way up, but when I go to close it, it will stop at the exact same spot every time, even if I help it along with my hand.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

Theo

It stops on the way closed, it will open up all the way fine, just won’t close, it is like it is done, it will not close all the way.

I hope it doesn’t rain any time soon… :?

I’ll get to it tomorrow I hope.

The sun-roof is two-stepped. Holding it down to close it it will get near the
very end and then stop. You have to release and press the close button
again to fully close it.

I’ve always hated that stupid feature.

It’s not just an S13 thing, my celica had a power sunroof, exact same thing. I actually thought it was broken for the longest time

I tried that, I tried a bunch of different things last night… I should go out and try it again… hopefully it will work for me. It has worked fine in the past.

Thanks for the replies guys, keep the suggestions coming.

Theo

Hahaha, I’m a burnout… Thanks Gautam.

I need to get used to this whole S13 deal now… I really do like the hand warmers up in the dash tho, that kicks ass!

sounds like you got it to close? how did you do it ?

Mike, it was the two stepped deal that G mentioned. I just had to push the button a second time heh…

I don’t remember it ever being like that and I have had it open a bunch of times before.

yeah just like I said the first post, re-press the button and it will close… Oohhh theo theo lol

Thank Doba too…he did mention it but because the forum screwed up his
post became the first post

Oh and Theo, you definitely deserve…

Yaaaaaay!! Its my birthday! Yaaaaaaaay
heh, well on sunday it was anyways.

rip it out and duct tape the hole shut. save on weight…

^Why don’t you do that and tell me how it goes? I was thinking of welding sheetmetal on mine, but hey, if duct tape does the job…

usually what they do is rivet something in its place, but welding will work too.

meh duct tape and card bored are awesome inventions, but if u wana do it seriously u have to use the tig or oxy torch and use the forming wheel to make a piece of metal to go where the existing sunroom is and brace the rest of the roof so it doesn’t deform. it dose work iv seen it don’t b4 u can do it real pro u just have to watch for warping in the metal due to the heat… and be good with the dremal and sand cloth so make it seamless.
