what is best way to tighten up sunroof when closed becuase u can feel and hear wind come in through and i wanna push the car more but it sounds like a hurricane over 140 i was thinking of putting duct tape but if theres another way i wanna know ^^
2 “12” inch JL audio subwoofers with a 300 watt Orion amp worked for me.
Try a new latch from Nissan, $70 or so.
there is an adjustment for that, where the latch goes in the roof near the dome light there’s a plastic cover with two screws holding it, remove the screws and the cover will come off then there will be a bolt under it holding a bracket, use a 12mm socket i think to loosen the bolt and then adjust the bracket, that will make the sunroof close tighter which will reduce the wind noise but wont eliminate it completely. If i had pictures it would’ve been much easier to explain but sorry.
thnxs guys, if those dont work ill just use good old duct tape ^^
NO! Don’t do that you will ruin the paint. Just do what Nissan4ever wrote he is right but when you are putting it back together put something between the plastic part and the roof part that it srews into that way when you clamp it down it will be a little tighter and it will create a tighter seal. It’s kind of hard to explain without pictures.
You can always put some type of sealant ont he inside of the sunroof, that may help.
Along with those other things, try frequently applying silicone to the rubber that seals the sunroof, I don’t know if it is the same as the S14, but that is what I would try. I am doing this to my side windows, sitting over the winter with no pressure against the rubber and the silicone should just about do it.
use washers between the bolts and the metal bracket.
it will create a bigger downforce when u close the latch, thereby eliminating wind and noise.
but it’s a b!tch to take apart and try to put back together again.
A method that I used was to keep the sunroof lacth on half open. It definatley reduced the noise, but the latch would occasionaly pop open. Just my $0.02, wouldn’t cost you anything to try it. If you want to spend the cash, an brand new weather stipping for the sunroof would do the trick.
You wont need a new seal really. And silicone is kinda a dumb idea.
Keeping the latch at half open helps a bit but only compounds the problem. The reason it howls is more because of the latch - the plastic wears out over time and bends. Mine actually got a small crack in it from keeping it half latched. I got a new latch from Nissan and it worked perfectly. Adjusting those bolts may work for now, but your latch is on its way out.
Care to enlighten me? Is the S13 sunroof diferent that the S14 or do you know something I don’t. Silicone works for me.
