Sunroof Rattle

My sunroof wasn’t clamping as tight as it used to, and I realized that the metal double arm that lifts it up was only half there. Basically one side of it wasn’t there, I probably forgot to put it back on after a failed attempt at removing it lol.

I went to the junkyard, found a sunroof latch, took the rectangular rubber spacer between the latch and the glass, which was much thicker than the one in my car, for some reason. After installing it, it has such a tight clamp now, which is awesome, but over bumps it still rattles like a mofo. I’m out of ideas.

I can physically push it up with my hands a little bit, especially side to side, and the latch mechanism seems to bend up a little with the plastic roofliner border being it’s anchor to the roof. Clamping is still tight as I already mentioned, it’s just that the whole latch mechanism moves with the sunroof, so it still bounces up and down over bumps. I’ll open up the plastic cover tomorrow. I apologize for the shitty description.

Any ideas or tips guys? Thanks in advance, this has been driving me nuts over the last month, along with my squeaky clutch pedal.

put washers as a spacer so it’ll close tightly

I already did that, but instead of washers i used a thick rectangular rubber piece. It clamps very tightly now. It still rattles though, because the whole tightly clamped latch moves with the sunroof. Making it tighter won’t do anything more. I need to make the plastic part on the headliner and the latch’s anchor not move. I’ll go check it out in a few hours and post back. Thanks for your response.
