Does anybody else have or had a creaky sunroof? When im driving with it closed and i go over bumps it gets all creaky. and makes a shaking noise. and if i go real fast. highway speeds its sounds like its open. do i just have to tighten screws or what? when its open it doesn’t make a sound.
there is a screw on the plastic cover, for the handle, take it out, take the cover off, there u will see the bracket that holds the sunroof, its held by two screws, loosen the screws, slide the bracket back, tighten them, voila, noise gone, if u slide it back all the way, it will be real tight to close, play with it a bit to see where its still quiet but not overly tight, if its still noisy even when it reallly tight then ur seal is screwed… get a new one or one from a junk yard in good condition.
seen seen… i have this problem too and imma try it and let u know how it goes…
thanks ill try this tommorow
this is a very common problem… i’m not sure who i got the idea from, but if you close the sunroof latch onto an empty film container, or something of similar size, it tightens everything up… no more wind noise at highway speeds.
i was looking at the 2 screws black240matt was talking about and i found that one screw was missing… so i replaced it and tightened up the latch… and it worked like a charm… no more noise…
but how tight is too tight? cuz i dont wanna break the glass or anything…
thanks
its not very possible to break the glass, its more possible u will mush the rubber seal so much that it will become flattened and ur noise will come back over time. As long as it doesnt seem “hard” to close u should be fine.
i tightened mine all the way and yes it does seem to mash the seal, because it didn’t take much more then a month to come back. i just close it on a pen an it works like a charm. plus i know i will always have a pen in the car.
u put the pen on the rubber part and then close it? sounds pretty good… gotta try it…
n, u put the pen between the handle thing and the roof, so then it doesnt go up all the way making it slightly tighter
This sound is caused by flexing of the frame follow the steps that Black Matt listed above.
