Does anyone know of a local. I mean can be within 50 to 100 miles if needed that will do supercharger rebuilds and port and polish on them possibly. I would like to get the M62 rebuilt before I hand the car off to my wife. Any help would be appreciated. I could do it myseld but decided I dont feel like messing with it right now.
well the M62 has a coupler issue where the holes start to egg just like the M45, M90 and so on. I have the coupler and I was going to replace it tonight but I just dont feel like it. I know mine really shouldnt need it yet, at 28000 miles but it will need it in the future and since you have to open it to do that, it wouldnt hurt to change the bearinhgs and seals aswell
The port and polish job on the m62 isnt worth the coin to have someone do it unless you got a friend that does them really cheap. Just buy yourself a new couple install that change the oil and call it a day. Save your money for the TVS.
ive got a new car, im giving this one to my wife. Ill pay the money for the rebuild. Im not really feeling like tearing the charger off the car and doing it right now. Thats why i was curious if a local shop would do it. The port and polish would just be a side thought in the process
ive just been trying to do a few projects to get the car ready for her, plus replacing a few loose ends. i dont think anything is required I just feel safer that way
yeah they probably would. But there are actual ,achine shops around that do it, i just dont know of any in this area and I though someone would know more
I think new needle bearings cost me $14 for my M90, plus a tap and some grease to pop them out. I would just change the coupler is you really think its bad, ZZP has them. Take the belt off and move the pulley with your hand back and forth real quick. You can feel if the coupler is bad or not. The only reason I changed the needle bearings in mine was because I had the case ported. The case was hot tanked so all grease was gone and I didn’t want to take the chance of any metal shavings in there.
Ok I can do this on my own. I have the coupler already as the post says. Im willing to pay the money because i dont feel like doing it . Ive got a lot of other things going on and I would rather pay someone. JUst as I said. And I have done the check. the coupler has very little slop but it is starting to form.
Does anyone know a machine shop that will do this?
Plus once I pick up my car this weekend Im not going to feel like working on this thing anymore.
New Era is the only place in western NY that I would trust to port a M90 or M62. Thats only because John C works there and he knows what will work and what doesn’t.
