SV650 or SV1000

Just as the title states, looking for an SV650 or SV1000. I’d prefer silver, black or red, but it doesn’t matter too much. Mileage under 10,000, and clean title only.

I know of a few SV’s in mind but none are local, this is just to test the local waters to see if I can save myself a trip.

im going to say this one more time… if you go from a 636 to an sv1000 (for tracking purposes…) then i dont understand you.

Have you ridden an sv yet?

I rode avatars… i didnt really like it for a street bike, my neck cramped up within 6 miles of the 400… i bet itd be a hoot on the track, but it wasnt for me. I suggest you get out on a couple before you’ve made up your mind <3

I’ve been on a 650 before, it’s real comfortable with the full fairings, the 650 puts down about 80hp which is significantly less than the 636, which is why I figured the SV1K would be better, just about the same bike but the motor puts down about 120hp

This is for street application, I think for track I may end up holding off/buying a super cheap salvage bike in the spring.

^ok… i dont think a stock sv puts “down” 80 hp… maybe at the crank… i could be wrong though.

gl buddy.

Yeah, you’re going to want the 1k. I couldn’t imagine a 600cc variant of my bike. They’re great around town but get a big yawn during a full throttle run on the highway. I’d be surprised if my 1k was as fast as your 636. Its way for comfortable than any supersport I’ve owned and it really is the most fun bike I’ve owned, but out on the open road, meh. You should def ride an sv1k, z1000, and the fz1 before you make up your mind.

gtfo with your “facts.”

seriously though, why ditch the 636 for this?

you should streetfighter your 636, chop the tail off, acerbis headlight and dirtbike bars. paint it flat black and some pink rims.

If I do a streetfighter 650, it’s going to be super obnoxious trust me lol.

I was really surprised with the 650S, it was actually comfortable to ride, the riding position was nice.

+1 on the comfort, it’s just going to be a freakin dog. At least with the sv1k you’re not taking too much of a power loss from your 636. Losing 30hp and gaining 50lbs is a huge difference. The other nice thing about having a naked bike is no one waves to you, harley riders still dont wave and sportbikes dont either, it’s best of both worlds. I’ve waved twice this summer, once to a triumph 1050 and once to another z1000.

any reason for not wanting a tl1000s or r

You’re losing the comfort of a standard bike. Plus RC51 > tl1000

but since you’re gay…

Lol fuck the TLS, it’s a death trap.

TLR is okay but I’d rather have something newer.

Decided, SV1000.

I still say you should ride a naked I4…

But that’s haggard, I like the SV cuz it doesn’t look broken, any streetfighter I4 looks like I just trashed my bike and couldn’t afford to fix it right.

Does the sv come in any other style?

Wow that FZ with the gsxr head light looks sick!

the bikes do look nice, but im sure you will be dissapointed in the power loss, maybe im wrong though

No, I really don’t use the power, I’d rather go “quick” in a corner than “fast” in a straight line.

I can say that I’d rather have comfort/looks over raw speed and track performance for my “street” bike.

Plus it’d be nice to take a trip longer than 3-4 hours.
