after the dyno tune, said and it done its good for 410-430rwhp on stock LS6 heads.

at 700whp on whalens car with a Garrett core rated at only 600hp, one side was so hot you could barely touch it and the other side was completely cold. for junkyard kits ebay coolers can do fine, but even a small garrett intercooler can get the job done better like you said.
