i have a problem with my tach, the sping broke. or w.e cause when i drive it jumps now. (like it gets stuck, then goes to designated rpm.) i have an extra FULL tach outta another 240. and that ones bad, meaning capaciter and something else on it is fried.
how would i go about switching springs. since there 0% help on nico/240sxfourms/nissan sites. its all the same i swapped my motor not my tach dont work.

and it dosnt work at all. no signal to the tach, and the side is burnt on the board. and it wasnt likt that in the pics. i dont know whats going on with this guy.
i plug my old one in and it works and does the same thing.
why, when all i need is a spring or w.e for the tach. i dotn even use it, but id like it to work. just bugging me bigtime
if you dont use it put a blank off plate there… and if you got it like that, id track that guy down and report him to a moderator and put a paypal refund request in(if you use paypal) or you can tell the truth and just say you fried it… ;D
I can’t say for sure with you nissan guys, but if you mess with the return spring on the mechanism you mess with the calibration of the gauge as well. Best to just get a refund or replacement from the guy.
It could be a lose wire. If you know what needs to be replaced (capacitor ect) I could solder a new one in. I had a lose wire and my tach was acting just like you described.
fuck the tach in the dash, get an aftermarket one, you dont need a gigantic one get a little one and put it on your steering colum, more accurate that the stock one.

some messing around with some wires and i got it to work!.
well for now i got the old tach back in til i figure out what im doing with my car. Suppose to be picking up a 93 coupe 2tone seafoam grean/charcol SE 5spd for 900. has rust, normal places. w/e. i got a million things going on.
Dude seriously, theres nothing Ghetto rigged about a small tach on your steering colum. The one on my dash isnt ghetto rigged, I ran the wires as clean as I could without cutting into the dahs threw the defrost vents on the side, there maybe a inch of wire visiable, and the shift like was ran underneath the steering colum…
You need function right now not looks, worry about making it look SWEEET JDM after your car is running right and setup how you want.
the guy who did that has his own store…buy that gay ass thing in the link from him seeing how thats obv how he got it…as for a aftermarket tack being ghetto :idiots…what wires did you mess with to get the sohc tach to work with the dohc motor ???
just because he has his own store, dosnt mean i cant do it. Its not hard to make the houseing outta the sterring wheel column, cut hole, measure, bondo, primer, textered paint. bam done.
WHY would i want another tach, when i can fix/replace the one in my cluster. 2 tachs? stupid.
and if you mess with the cluster wireing itself and not the harness, soder/unsoder, and put 3 wires in to the left side of the cluster you can make it work. but i took the SOHC tach out. took out the spring, and put it in my dohc tach. so probelm solved
