TDI'ers chime in

For any of the TDI’ers or just general VW crowd on this board, I am looking for some suggestions as to a clutch kit to buy for my 2001 Jetta TDI

My stock clutch is beginning to slip, and I want to replace it with a heavier-duty system, lightweight flywheel, yada yada… Power capability is not very important… (the car makes about 100hp and 180 tq), but durability would be nice…

I have read about the VR6 kits and was hoping to find out if anyone on here has had any luck or misfortune?

Alot of the 1.8t guys go with the stock vr6 clutch. I’m sure it would work well for your application.

Talk to Lowlyoilburner, XWalkerX, or Dozr.

They have all owned TDI’s.

I was looking at the first 2 on this list… 20.5 lb flywheel and 14 lb flywheel, other than noise reduction on the 20.5lb, can anyone point out advantages/disadvantages?

a lot of TDI owners put in oem VR6 clutches

My friend steve had a VNT 17 and the VR6 clutch never slipped

Can anyone explain to me the main difference between a 14lb flywheel and 20.5lb flywheel?

6.5lbs

LOL

Lol, nice, what else?

I think its really just a matter of preference. The main feature of the stage 1 is that it has more grip for higher power outputs. The weight difference is a matter of the higher weight will mean a more stock feel to the clutch the lower weight will yield a little bit more torque to the wheels but a bit more noise from the gear box.

if you want to save money definetly get your flywheel turned and run a stock spec vr6 clutch

Go with a Corrado G60 flywheel, and as others have suggested, vr6 clutch. Dieselgeek.com had a nice kit a while ago, kinda pricey.

that setup will hold 350+ft/lbs with no trouble.
