Some of you may have already seen/heard about this; Norton has applied a patch to it’s 2006 security suite that fixes the most recent activation exploit (bug).
So far today I’ve tried:
 Freedom (from Adelphia)
Zone Alarm (not impressed)
AVG (meh, it’s okay… not great, but not all that bad.)
Can anyone a recommend solid antivirus/firewall solution?
LOL same here  Been using it for the past 2 years… when I formatted my pc the last time, I gave zone alarm a shot and lets just say, it stayed on my machine for a few hours before going back to sygate.
just a heads up though, they used to offer a free version, but dont anymore. if you look for “sygate personal firewall download” in google you should find it no problem.
oh, and I use AVG… been using it for a long time now and hasnt let me down yet. In fact, I was running Norton before I went to AVG and AVG picked up 2 virii that norton never seen (yes, it was up to date)
the email part has never been an issue for me, always installed without any hitches, but im using the enterprise ver. im not sure if the free ver. does the email scanning.
