The 2014 Camaro Looks Better...

Well price out a 1LE, a crate LS7, upgraded brakes ect ect, it gets $$$$ fast, plus to have a low production collector car, look at what the 427 Converts MSRP for and what they can be had for, I think once the initial frenzy dies down you will be able to pick up a new or sub 5k mile Z28 for $55-$60k

Extactly what I meant just explained better :tup:

… and why wouldn’t the 1LE be considered “the working man’s Corvette”?

@ 3:01.5 it is faster than a C6 Z51 @ 3:03.6 and .4 slower than a C6 Z06 @ 3:01.1 .

Not sure what the production numbers will be, but if they keep it limited like the Boss Luguna Seca they will be snatched up and collected.

Interesting that the track focused stripped down Camaro is more expensive the the higher hp ZL1.
Compared to the Boss/Laguna Seca vs GT500. Granted the Boss has a similar engine to the GT vs dropping the 427 into the Camaro.

An LS3 is $8600, an LS7 is $14,xxx so a $6k difference. The brakes would be an easy $4k-$6k price jump. Wheels would be a wash. My car has 20x10 and 20x11, the Z/28 has 19". Probably costs GM the same to make either wheel. Sway bars are different, but probably a negligible price difference. Shocks would be more for the Z/28, but the 1LE comes with sweet monotube shocks. A lighter battery might run an extra $100 versus a regular battery. The glass is slightly thinner, might cost more $$$$$ to produce.

My point is production cost is probably not much more to make a car, yet it’s $35k-$40k more. Fuck that. If they’d price it accordingly, there would be a line out the door, and they’d be looking into ways to ramp up the supply in a big way. Exclusivity means shit to me. I buy a car to drive and enjoy it. It sucks that there are probably a lot of guys like me, who have the loyalty, desire, and means to purchase the car IF it were priced right, but the company is greedy, and priced it WAY out of line.

Definitely some mark up after jumping into the GM parts bin, but your estimates are low.

MSRP for LS3 is $7,761, LS7 is $17,129, that’s a difference of $9,500 ish.

  • different accessories, radiator?

I’m assuming the carbon ceramic brakes are similar to the ZR1
ZR1 brake rotors list at $2,408… each. That’s $9,600 ish
ZR1 calipers are $841 front, $635 rear. That’s $2,900 ish
So $12,500 ish total

http://www.superchevyperformance.com/category_s/205.htm
1LE brakes (same as SS) list at $5,600

So $6,900 + difference if needing pads or master cylinder to go with those parts

And then add on the aero mods to suck down rainbows

Seats, spoilers, diffusers, Z/28 badges and stitching, slight disruption to production line/training/tooling… different programming for any traction/stability control logic? Salary for R&D staff man hours, trip to Nürburg, EPA car, NHSTA car(s), all for a small production run.

Why are you still arguing about a car 99% of the people on here could never/would never own?

The 2015 mustang gt performance package will be faster around a track than the boss302s. I wonder how they will stack up against the z28 seeing as they aren’t even limited production.

LS3= $8567.97

LS7= $14099.97

$5500 difference. Whatever, the Z/28 doesn’t have $40k worth of more stuff on it. The 1LE and ZL-1 stuff is worth some coin too.

Should we be fighting about what constitutes a dysfunctional relationship instead? lol

I’m hearing 500 this year and 1000 next

More…

Makes the 1LE look like a pretty good deal. That front lip is huuuuuge and so are those front tires :eek:

Wow. I can’t wait to see what the next 5 years has in store for this Mustang/Camaro battle

I’m sure this “flowtie” mod will be something regular Camaro guys do as well:

Chevy’s iconic moniker was doing a disservice to air flow; it was displacing air away from the radiator. In a track-ready car like the Z/28, taking cool air away from the engine is never a good thing.

Quinn then proceeded to cut out the gold contents of the bowtie resting on the Z/28’s grill, leaving only the silver outline. Upon reinstalling the homemade prototype on the grille, he tried out the car again.

The results were a win. Affectionally referred to as the “Flowtie” by the engineering team, the hallowed out bowtie added just enough airflow to the engine to cool it by a staggering 2 degrees during track sessions. Those 2 degrees were just enough to mandate the modified bowtie on all Z/28 Camaros.

Let me bust out my hammer on mine!

Just saw my first flowtie in the garage today. Impressive looking vehicle. If it is there tomorrow I will grab a photo.

Good at passing on double yellow:
