The AUTOMOTIVE Winter Project Thread

so LS6 heads, custom cam shaft and a FAST intake/throttle body would be the way to go??

LS6 heads are $590 each (just had the guys check for me)
FAST intake/throttle body is ???
Cam shaft is $400

thats a pretty good dollar per hp gained

a fast 90/90 will run around 1g new. you are better off finding a used set of LS6 heads, i am locked in to buy a SET for $450.

you can also save money going with a nick williams throttle body over the FAST one, the nick williams is better anyways

putting the damn car back together will be nice. maybe get a front passenger seat too.

New converter, more juice, shooting for 9’s

GOOD DEAL!! thanks for the help guys

it fits the L92 heads.

if you want the absolute best bang for your buck for your stock LS1 get an LS6 intake (around 300-350 used) port your stock tb get a cam and get LS6 or 5.3 heads. there are parts out there that will make more power than the above but they are good budget parts.

A few people had problems 4 years ago and this issue has long since been addressed. The only reason people still think they stick is cause people keep bringing up a 4 year old issue that isn’t even an issue anymore

new shortie headers (headman longtubes suck)
Therefore re-running the exhaust
high flow cat(s)–>make it more legal
new clean S-10 box (rustfree)
Get rid of the body kit
weld in roll pan
shave the tailgate
handle relocator
new driverside fender
hopeefully get some stuff painted too

Changing the front suspension (currently have drop springs)
standard 4.3 coil springs
Drop spindles

oh ya I have a very short time to do all this (thanksgiving/X-mas Break) when I am home in Vermont. We will see how much gets done. But if I go on Co-op in the spring then I should have some extra money/time laying around

EDIT: I forgot the driveshaft loop so I can use my $56 slicks  on rims too

the fast is typically $30 more from what ive seen. and the nick williams is a nice piece, imo its a bit more presentable but thats just an opinion.

they still had problems whether they fixed them or not, it makes people stay away from it, just like the spec 3 clutches or the 918 springs.

I have a nice list for the mustang this winter…which has already started…

  • Vortech Air/Water Power Cooler (already started)
  • Pulley down for more boost (on its way)
  • Fox lake P51 Intake Manifold (on its way)
  • Aeromotive fuel rails/an lines etc. (on its way)
  • 31 Spline Axles & Carrier
  • Have axle tubes welded
  • Aluminum Driveshaft
  • Upper & Lower real control arms
  • New CC Plates
  • 4 cyl Springs cut
  • New rear shocks
  • battle boxes/torque box reinforcement
  • New wheels & tires…ProStar Big & Littles with M/T rubber
  • 8pt Roll Cage (courtesy of PMP) (in a couple weeks)
  • Couple more gauges

That about sums it up for me. Not much more i can do after that lol. When i’m done, i should top the 500 rwhp mark, and get some good times in at the track.

Break-in my fresh built long block! This gonna be tough

Swap all my stuff into my other car after paint and cage and fuel cell. Run 10’s on stock block next year unless I come upon some extra dough then 1 of my 3 motors will be built… and look for some better times.
