So I’m upgrading my speakers in my 1985 buick T-type. I picked up some infinity Kappa 5.25" speakers for my doors, they came with crossovers, I wired them up and they sound alright, I’m powering them with my factory radio so I’m sure they could sound better still with an aftermarket head unit and even better with a proper amp.
I got a set of Polk Audio 6x9s from a friend for my rear deck speakers, they’re rated 300watts and have rubber surround, so not sure how good they will sound powered by my factory radio but I can’t install them until I get some 4x10 to 6x9 adapters.
Lastly I need some 3.5" speakers for my dash, I still need to buy them so we will see what I find.
I also would like to use an after market antenna, not sure if they make good ones that can be stuck on my windshield?
Any input?
Once all my speakers are changed I’ll probably get an after market head unit and possibly run new speaker wire for my speakers.
my kids left a bunch of junk under the passenger seat in my M3 the other day and it was rattling with the stereo. i thought my passenger door speaker was pooched.
the thought of it was actually exciting, the prospect of going to a nice audio shop and picking up some Dynaudio or Focal mids and toying with the idea of a JL Stealth box and a nice amp.
instead i just dug out all the junk under the seat and all was fine.
that’s all i have to contribute to the car audio thread.
