Hey guys, I wasn’t sure if you had seen this yet, but the evo is back in the shop for a GT42r turbo kit. This car should be running over 850 hp without nitrous. Incase you don’t know, the inlet on a GT42r is 5"!!!
At this point, isn’t this car pretty much a dyno queen? I don’t know what that car redlines at but full boost at 5500rpm doesn’t seem very usable. I dunno.
It’s driveable… I am sure they have extended the rev limit (usuable limit too) to 9k at least. If you think about it, a lot of the turbo Honda’s don’t start making power til about 5k so it’s not THAT much of a stretch. It is certainly not going to be quick on the spool but they probably have spray for that purpose… Regardless, the GT42R is definitely at the very end of usability on a 2.0L block (not much better on a 2.3L if that is what is under the hood).
Gotcha. Yeah if its revving to 9k then that’s not too bad.
That does seem like an awefully big turbo being pushed by such a small engine.
Pretty cool though. 800hp out of those little motors is a great feat no matter how you do it.
a small shot of n2o would help with spooling. and if you havent seen the video of the same size turbo on the smaller 2.0 on the ams car, spool pretty fast, the 2.3 should spool it 500 faster.
