The GM Recall *Now EVERY new-gen Camaro*

I don’t know anybody that has ever died behind the wheel of a GM car. I also don’t know anybody that has ever been into an accident because of a manufacturer defect, regardless of the make/model. Stop burying your head in the internet news feed and go get some fresh air.

My ford focus has it.

Merica.

It was pretty easy to do in my audi, there’s a bunch of vids of people doing it in other cars too. I think it’s the switchblade keys that are the real issue.

As you’ll recall, the $10-billion suit was filed by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro out of Seattle, and alleges that “GM’s egregious and widely publicized conduct and the never-ending and piecemeal nature of GM’s recalls has so tarnished the affected vehicles that no reasonable consumer would have paid the price they did when the GM brand meant safety and success.”

That’d be a fine argument, were it backed up with, you know, data or facts. Instead, as TDB pointed out, the residual values of GM vehicles have scarcely been impacted by the recalls. It spoke to Kelley Blue Book, the Black Book and ALG for information on sales and residual values, and found that, if anything, GM vehicles continue to do well. In fact, according to the Black Book, a six-year-old Chevrolet Cobalt, one of the most recalled vehicles in the ignition switch fiasco, actually saw its residual values increase in the past few months. Some analysts were less political. Scott Painter, the founder and CEO of TrueCar, for example, called the suit “opportunistic and despicable.”

residual values are impacted by so many other factors… the suit will be hard to win but i’m sure they’re just going to force GM to make a settlement anyways… it IS the USA afterall

I would regularly turn my miata ignition off with my knee at the track. I should sue.

@Jam Just sayin…

Yeah Jeff is a super good guy and has helped me out on many occasions! A lot of the time they didn’t run because they didn’t have an engine… That’s a problem. But he has towed them a few times because they broke down, or I bought a car with a blown head gasket, you know. Old cars break down. Idk how you want me to respond.

I just saw that pic and it made me lol

It was just in fun.

This is the part that I can’t understand:

What has most surprised industry observers is the apparent lack of impact that GM’s recall problems have so far had on the maker. They had expected GM to report a sales decline of at least 1 percent for June, but sales actually rose 1 percent over year-earlier numbers.

Sub-prime is back baby!

the economy must grow to support inflation

The recall has been out on the cobalts/g5s for a few years, I’ve replaced many ignition cylinders in the past 3 years… The only difference with this recall is new design key (again) and ignition switch replacement as well.

People are dropping their old cars to get fixed, they receive a brand new loaner, end up buying loaner.

The controversy also spurred a comprehensive safety review by GM of all its cars, leading the largest U.S. automaker to recall 25.7 million U.S. vehicles in total this year for a variety of fixes ranging from ignitions to door wiring to seat-belt retractors.GM’s recalls eclipse Ford Motor Co.'s previous single-year record for a company of 23.3 million in 2001.
With 64.6 million cars and trucks on U.S. roads, according to Experian, GM is calling back the equivalent of 40 percent of its vehicles.

So far I have got a 10 year 120k warranty on my supercharger due to the review. Hard to complain.

new Silverado’s and Sierra’s. Theyre everywhere.

Bump. Might be time to look at buying a Solstice or Sky. Maybe this will effect the Camaro too?

GM’s Subprime Lending Draws Justice Department Scrutiny

I can’t say this doesn’t make me smile

I don’t know enough about the market to really judge, although cars are easier to move than houses if in default.
