The "Im Moving to California, Sell Everything" thread

Going to Yolo to the west coast for most of a year starting in August, Most of my things aren’t worth bringing with me or storing for any length of time.

I know it’s typically against policy to post CL links but it’s the best way to keep everything organized and then I don’t have to double host the pics.

Also for sale but not listed is my 03 Duramax 2500hd. Please pm if you are interested in that now, will make separate thread in a few weeks.

Where in California?

Oceanside, know of any Mech Engineering jobs and/or places to live? I might start a separate thread querying the forum in a month or so.

That’s everything, huh?

Ha, I wish. Close though. Throwing out and donating a lot of stuff I’ve hoarded over the past few years. All I’m really keeping is my tool box, some electronics (scope, etc), my camping stuff, and a few of my textbooks.

You planning to live right in Oceanside? That’s kinda no man’s land up there between OC and SD, nothing really going on other than military. I’d try to live closer to Encinitas or Carlsbad, and obv. as close to the water as you can afford. Temps shoot up like crazy once you get inland a bit.

Born there.

The gf’s job is there (rotational program) and I really don’t like commuting, so I am going to try to get a job in Oceanside first.

surprisingly oceanside is littered with lots of gang activity

Yeah, Oceanside is a dead area indeed. I can’t speak to the gang activity because i’ve never really had a reason to roll down there on any given day. Carlsbad has a lot going on. Could be a cool alternative.

Also, definitely live as close to the water as you can afford. Inland CA is the worst.

Well a 10 min drive isn’t really anything. I’m just not trying to have a 45 min commute. Currently I walk 45’ to work…

Everything is fucking 45 minutes away in CA… maybe more when you live in a dead area inbetween OC and San Diego. Be prepared to drive A LOT.

Good luck on your journey…

I don’t mind driving to get to places, just not keen on wasting an hour or more of every day just going back and forth to work. But whatever happens, happens.

thanks man, should be a good time I hope.

a friend of mine is a first responder and just constantly talks about all the calls he shows up at. never expected that kind of shit in Oceanside I guess. but hey who am I kidding I live in downtown long beach LOL.

I skate 6 blocks to work

god this is so true. CA is so fucking spread out.

if you know how to ride this would be a good reason to get a motorbike…splitting lanes helps avoid all that traffic bullshit

Oh, I’ll definitely be getting some sort of choppa.

don’t be that guy.

You’ll see a lot of military ones patrolling the beaches and running trainings out there. Pretty cool.

oh… motorcycles…

oh cmon. what’s that supposed to mean?

I really liked my cb360 (http://www.nyspeed.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=34002&d=1415986015)so) so maybe something like that. Really depends on what kind of job I can find.

Did you sell that?
