Someone’s upset.
You’re trying too hard.
We can all agree the iPhone is and always will be a solid device. Probably one of the best. All I am saying is if these reports are true it could be upsetting to some. Either way the 5 is going to be a nice device. No need to get panties in a bunch gentlemen. I will admit as much as I love my gnex the battery is… Frustrating…
Well after having mine for a day, I love it. It’s much faster and I really like how fast 4G is.
I need to pick up a nice case and screen protector though. Not really liking the one I grabbed at Best Buy last night. They only had like on choice for screen protectors and they were $30, fuck that. I’ve been too busy to try anywhere else.
I love mine so far. 4G is deff way faster. Only complaint I have so far is the battery sucks big time but I have been on it non stop so its kinda expected.
About the mapping thing, you guys had to expect this. Apple loves proprietary stuff so the Google Maps thing wasn’t going to stick around long. And they had to partner with TomTom since Navteq (map provider for BMW and many other vehicles) is owned by Nokia. I don’t think they had any other great contenders for map data. Is there a Google maps app for the iPhone 5 yet?
People use Windows phones? thought that was a myth.
lol, just an example. I have the last non-windows Nokia (sigh) and was able to navigate perfectly fine on the backroads of the Smoky Mountains this week where there isn’t any phone reception. I never understood why other manufacturers don’t allow you to store map data for quicker access. It’s not like the storage space on modern phones can’t handle it.
So I don’t know about navigation since I haven’t tried it on the Nexus 7 but I know you can make maps work offline if you pick the area.
I assume that data feeds navigation anyways so it should work.
I mean you somewhat can with Google Maps and their offline maps. I’m also fairly certain (at least on android) you can still use GPS navigation with no cell service. The location won’t be AS accurate, but will work. I just turned my wifi and data off and was still able to see my approximate location.
google maps kinda does cache maps, but you need coverage initially I think if you didn’t already cache the maps or something.
I really want to mess with one of the windows phone.
I’m still harboring bad feelings based on my experience with the old windows mobile phones.
I would love a Nokia windows phone if it had any sort of app dev community. The Nokia’s I had were the best built phones I had ever touched. Symbian just sucked. It was like a macbook air running prodos or something.
So are any of you godphone5 guys running into the problems I’m reading about? It’s pretty universal that the new maps is half baked, but what about scratching and light leaks? I’m starting to worry that post steve jobs apple 2.0 is going to suck as hard as post steve jobs apple 1.0. Besides, hating Apple isn’t going to be fun if they really do suck.
I do love the new maps run in the background and you can easily tap it to get back to it.
People complained about the iPhone 4 after it came out too, but that was mostly about the hardware if I remember correctly. I’m sure they’ll iron out the software bugs.
Yeah. The maps doesn’t seem too bad just yet. I want to see how it does when I’m in Cali this weekend for walking distance stuff.
I agree that the phone shouldn’t light leak… but where it leaks will almost always be covered by a case…
Just updated my 4s yesterday, lots of nice improvements.
I guess if you scratch it with a giant knife it scratches. What a fail apple. :picard:
