THE **iPhone** Thread (GPS, JailBreak, Apps, Etc)

It seems like that is what they are going for. The interface is pretty slick. I don’t play games or really use apps on my phone, I wonder if this is more towards my use. I’ll have to see how this pans out. I am not a normal use case for smartphones though, I hate phones.

Thing is, I wear a watch everyday. And unfortunately I use my phone everyday as well. With teaching this would be nice to check emails, time (of course) and any of the other myriad of tasks I do day in day out.

You aren’t thinking like a 'Murican. LOL

$350 for an iPhone accessory? No thanks. I’d sure like a larger screen on my phone though. Apple pay looks good, and I like that using it doesn’t expose the card data to the merchant.

You can pay with the watch also

I’m just excited it replaces a fitbit and does all those other things

I will probably think less of people for buying this watch, especially for paying with it. It looks so awkward

Also…no, just no:

I guess the iWatch comes in two sizes also

I do like the look moto 360 better however the feature set of the Apple is better

^That’s actually a sweet looking watch.

Technology like this is cool because Apple already has a user base that will adopt it and the health data that could be gathered is really interesting.

You could get insane amounts of data before a cardiac event over a huge number of people which hasn’t been possible before

Yeah I’m not sure why they would do two sized watches other than more money. I agree with @LZ that the Moto 360 is the best looking smart watch on the market right now and the iWatch is superior in it’s features. But…are those features (the same ones available in your iPhone) necessary on a watch? The health tracking I get, but some of the other stuff?

Do any of the watches actually have a REAL heart rate censor? I know they need to be cleared by the FCC since it’s something providing health information, you can’t have something giving wrong information to a person.

Also this just popped into my twitter feed:

I’ve yet to see a smart watch that I’d wear. I liked this concept, but it’s not real:

Try watching the video. You don’t pinch zoom it, you use the digital crown.

I’m not sold on it and definitely not ordering one right now but I’m not dismissing it either. The people saying, “it’s so dumb” were probably saying the same thing about the first iPhone. “Why do I want that crap on my phone”. “I have to press how many buttons just to dial a number? That’s never going to take off”. Remember those people? Yeah, they look like idiots now. I don’t know if the iWatch will take off but I do know Apple’s product does a whole lot more than any of the current “smartphone screen extender” smart watches the competitors rushed to market so they could post “FIRST”. And I’ll ask the doubters this… How many Apple hardware products have been flops in the past 10 years?

I’m setting my alarm for 3am Friday to pre-order the 6 plus.

I will use the features for me its nicer and more subtle then constantly pulling out or being attached to my phone just check a new email notification or some bs.

Lots of people were/are using Pebble watches and the feature set sucked.

I’m guessing its real heart rate monitor they’re building out their whole health platform around it.

I was going to do that but I really want to hold the 6 and 6 plus and see which I like better

Condensed video is here

I originally thought the same thing but I have an S3 now which is REALLY close to the 6’s overall dimensions. I went around the office yesterday and found a couple 5.5-5.7" phones that will be really close to the 6 plus and decided that was enough. Plus I really want the image stabilization of the 6 plus.

I really like the design of the phone, I’d probably go with the 6 plus if I got one. I have the GS5 now and I like the bigger screen, mainly for games (Clash of Clans) lol. I like ApplePay (minus the cunt name). I’m guessing we’ll see a shitload of NFC pads on everything now. Eliminating a wallet would be kinda nice or at least carrying credit cards and the million loyalty cards we have. I’ll also give Apple their camera in this model and previous models. It’s probably the best on the market and has been for sometime. Android really needs to work on getting better sensors and such.

Right now I can’t see a practical reason for me to get a smart watch other than I could use another watch, I’m a geek, it does geeky things.

I’m 99% sure it’s called Apple Pay because Jack Henry already owns iPay.

Jack Henry isn’t some little company Apple could just muscle out of the name.

iWallet? although the “i” thing is really reached annoying status now.

The watch is just too expensive for me. It starts at 350, but that’s likely for the smaller size or more basic bands and stuff. I expect that the ideal watch for me is probably going to be about 100-150 more than the base. I’m unwilling to spend that. Maybe a few years after release, which is the same amount of time it took me to bite on an iPad. I don’t think my iPad has been charged and used in MONTHS. So yeah, I’ll more than likely simply stick with new phone every 2 years rather than jumping on the bandwagon for all these other devices.

I was really hoping for an Apple TV with App Store. That’s something that I have an immediate need for.

To the people saying $350 is too much for the watch… Have you ever looked at what people pay for nice watches? I’m not talking the Casio you picked up at Walmart. Even a middle of the road Citizen is more than the Apple Watch.

I own an Oris. I know a thing or two about high end watches. However, the $1k+ watch on my wrist won’t be obsolete in 2 years.

The Apple Watch isn’t really a watch. Yeah it CAN tell time and straps to your wrist, but it’s a tech gadget, it does much more than tell time.
