exactly. luxury watch aficionados are probably laughing their asses off at this.
I’m really trying not to hate on it. I think it’s really cool. I guess I’m just cheap and/or poor. I can’t afford to replace a laptop, smartphone, iPad, Apple Watch every few years to keep up with software updates and physical hardware limitation capabilities (like NFC, retina, etc…).
iWatch is more novelty gadget thing, a real watch is fashion. I personally could never afford a $7,000 IWC watch, so the smart watch is more appealing.

Probably one of the greatest scenes on TV ever. I was in tears watching this when it came out.
I would hesitate to call it a novelty, but not a necessity for me.
Different markets maybe, but you can’t tell me when Apple talks about working with horologists, it’s 50 ms accuracy and all these different band and color options that they aren’t marketing this as a fashion accessory as much as a gadget.
Well they are making an 18k gold version. That will probably be thousand dollar watch, so you’re right. But how long will that watch be relevant for? How long did the iPad 1 stay in support for?
The accuracy argument is a joke. They have a data connection, all it takes is to sync with a time server to keep it accurate.
High end luxury watches are actually not super accurate anyways.
Without getting too off topic is the rest of that show as funny as that scene?
As I say about the show, it’s everything the Big Bang Theory could have been. It’s pretty fucking funny.

I have interviewed with two silicon valley companies and on the GTalk interview, the first one told me “we will wait for you to take off the tie. we know your smart, we are here to meet you”
so the second one I had a polo on and fit right in.
The place out there is a shit hole. The show depicts that area really well and the people that are in it. I love that area tho if you are in the creative/hacker/motivated group as those people exist in small groups but are motivating to be around. You will also be talking to people like normal in cities and have no idea you are talking to VPs of major tech companies. I chatted about trends of social media at a small boutique in San Fran for an hour with a guy and a shop owner. Turned out the guy was a VP of Engineering at Twitter
