THE **iPhone** Thread (GPS, JailBreak, Apps, Etc)

just like people that carry the galaxy note(n) on their belt

The only person I know who still carries their phone on their belt is @bing

My grandfather does lol.

G/F had to go to the apple store last night for a battery recall on her iphone 5. I got to see and mess with a 6 and 6 plus. I’m still not crazy about ios but the phone is really nice. If I had to choose it would be the regular 6, the 6 plus is huge. There was a line of people out the door waiting to get one.

What do you guys have for insurance? I may just go buy AppleCare which is good for 2-years? I used to have regular insurance through Verizon but dropped it a while back due to the deductible being so high on top of the ~120 a year it costs.

BestBuy also offers one right?

Applecare+ for me. Only thing is it doesn’t cover lost/stolen like the carrier insurance sometimes does.

I didn’t used to put any insurance on them but the screens have gotten so much harder to replace that it’s worth it to me now. I could swap a 3G/3GS lcd and digitizer in about 15 minutes at a cost of about $30.

Right as I did with my iPhone 4 but ran into issues with my 5. I would need the insurance for a cracked screen as that’s what has typically happened in the past. I’ll more than likely get the AppleCare then like I had on my Mac as well.

AppleCare all the way, my friend works at Apple and says they already have people with cracked screens looking to get replaced. Without AppleCare it’s “sorry we don’t have screens in stock yet” but with AppleCare you get 2 free accidental breaks and then after that 79$ and brand new device. I gladly spent the $99.

It’s $79 per incident. There are no free replacements on accidental breaks.

Every iPhone comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone (1) and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $79 service fee plus applicable tax. (2)

Still, $79 is a lot better than $749 for the cheapest 6+.

Key word is “subject” to a 79$ fee. Can be free under the right conditions and how bad the damage is. Example, iPhone 5/5s power button issues were free replacement under AppleCare .

Well, got my phone and it’s pretty sweet. Laughing at how stupidly simple it was to import everything and get it working. Only ended up with a couple duplicate contacts.

Lol yea when people asked if I had issues with it bending, i laughed and was like no, i dont wear skinny jeans.

It’s a huge portion of their demographic

Tim Cook wears skinny jeans. How did they not see this coming?

That said, I gave mine a bit of a bend test just with my hands today and put enough pressure on it that I was uncomfortable with if the screen was going to crack and it’s still perfectly straight. Starting to wonder if this is more anti-apple hype than a real issue. It is really thin for being made out of aluminum though.

I think whats happening is girls/guys with skinny jeans are putting them in back pocket then sitting.

I’m really liking the 5.5" screen. It’s not great one handed but the double-touch feature that brings everything down to 1/2 of the screen helps. 240fps video is fun and I’m looking forward to playing with that skiing with my daughter this winter.

The camera seems really good. I snapped this one last night quick from my deck:

That’s a tricky photo for a phone camera, with the dark shaded parts of the yard and the setting sun doing everything it can to blow the contrast out. It was still able to capture great detail and even catch the rays of sun coming through the trees. That image is untouched straight from the phone.

My 5 bent but I also had dropped it a dozen times without a case, kinda expected.
