THE **iPhone** Thread (GPS, JailBreak, Apps, Etc)

Ya won’t work bud.

ohh lol, i had no idea

anyone notice the speaker seems a lot louder on 2.1?

I haven’t done a speakerphone call since upgrading but I hope that’s true. Road noise at 80mph made it hard to hear on speaker before.

I just downloaded the “white noise” app. God damn that shit makes me tired. I love it. Has rain, waves, fan, a/c, tv static and other noises.

Haven;t tried the speaker phone but seems that my text message and ring tones are alot louder now.

ya its pretty sweet. i played with it the other night when it was too cold in my room for my fan. its cool that it turns off automatically.

lol me too, pretty cool app

WOW SO NOT ONLY DOES IT FUCKING CRASH NOW IT WENT INTO LOCK MODE AND THE SCREEN WONT TURN BACK ON UNLESS I PLUG IT INTO THE USB CABLE. AS SOON AS THE SCREEN TURNS OFF AGAIN I CANT PUSH THE POWER AND GET BACK TO IT.

This is a unjailbroken 2.1 16gb phone with 3 apps installed (Pandora, Facebook, and Shazam) which are all respected apps of the AppStore.

Cool it there Pacino. Restore it again.

“unjailbroken” as in what? As in you’ve hacked it and restored the core OS of the phone 10 times, or it’s a new unmolested phone?

I wonder how well my PC would work if I kept hacking and restoring Vista over and over.

ok quick question, i just finally got around to setting up my email, is there a way to have it checked without opening it?

Yeah, under Settings, Fetch New Data, and select how often you want it to check.

It will decrease your battery life if you set it to every 15 minutes though.

cool, thanks

ohh and my unjailbroken phone is working perfectly

Unjailbroken meaning its running the latest firmware from Apple that has not been patched or loaded with any additional software. Jailbroken only patches the OS image. If you restore it with the new release, you have an unmodified phone. Again, this is different than unlocking it becuase you are not messing with the baseband of the phone or bootloader. Just simply placing files into the iPhone software.

This is why once you restore it, all jailbreaks are broken because the files are different and you are putting a new OS.

Again, its like having a PC that has a virus and reformatting and installing the OS again and saying that any computer problems are becuase of the old virus.

Alright, reflashed to 2.1 and jailbroke it and seems to be running better than ever. I will see how this lasts.

Also, rumored the first android phone is to be sold the 23rd. Personally I don’t think it looks that great and is on T-Mobile so good luck getting decent service.

Meh. Looks okay. Not really all that interested in a Google phone OS beta.

Yeah, my phone has been great since I upgraded to 2.1 and jailbroke it.

If the platform lives up to the hype it would be pretty sweet but I haven’t seen a phone yet that really caught my eye. If it does run openly on different platforms, I would be interested to see how long before someone runs it on the iPhone.

Two great apps on Cydia:

SwirlyMMS: http://www.swirlyspace.com/iphone/apps/mms/

$8 but allows you to send and receive picture messages

iRealSMS: http://www.irealsms.com/
$5 (EUR). Gives you full SMS features on a typical phone. I forward a lot of alert messages that I get to other people so this adds the functionality of a real SMS inbox and not a ongoing conversation.

On a side note about the release of the android phone, has anyone else noticed how Google is on a war path?

First they went against Yahoo and built their own search engine. Then Microsoft for their document suite and most recently their web browser.

Now they are releasing their own phone OS which is now pitting them against Apple and ATT since Google Maps is native to every iPhone.
