No not the name lookup. For example, a system that manages our callouts to oncall persons only sends out XXX-YYYY for its caller ID. When it calls me it shows up as UNKNOWN instead of the 7 digits. If I put my SIM in an old phone, it works fine and also anyone else in my company who get calls from this number.
ATT escalated it and got someone to see stats of calls coming into my phone and is showing my own phone number for these calls in their records which they said indicates a blocked number.
anyone else have a problem with sending text messages?
For instance, on my old phone one friend of mine, for whatever reason could never get sent a text from my phone. It would always send a txt back saying that it needed a vaild 10 didget mobile number (even though I added in the area code).
So now with the new one, a friend that I’ve always been able to send text messages to is giving me the same problem. Am I just stupid and missing something or is this a common problem?
No problems here… I was trying to get swirly mms to work last night to send some nude pics I received to some friends… IT was a little more difficult than anticipated… So i just emailed them lol
ATT does network sweeps for people who beat the system and who’s plan who does not match up with their phone ie. iPhone on a non iPhone plan. Once they catch you, they put you back to the iphone text only plan.
i got hit with it like 2 weeks ago and didnt bother trying again to get it fixed.
Haha no one knows. Its up to Apple since they like control ATT on these phones.
Similar to the question will we ever get turn by turn or copy and paste. Lol.
Sadly, those are the features that I would actually use. Ya podcast downloading and street view are useful for picking up ladies at the bar by showing off the phone (ok maybe not really), but copy and paste and MMS are two features I would use a lot.
Nothing much now. It’s more of a proof of concept at the moment… it needs drivers to be written and a GUI that’s better for the phone. If you haven’t watched the video, he’s using a boot menu to boot OS or linux
I’m sure it can be used as a phone, while running linux, if they dissect some of the code from android (or even just port android over to run directly on the iphone)
Nothing is good about this, its like coverting a car to run on peanut butter, but oh yeah, it doesnt go into drive, and you have to drive rev the engine with the hand brake
Ya was playing with it. Got the boot loader installed and it to boot once then got bored.
Same as you would on a touchpad mouse.
Double tap and drag to highlite and let go to stop highliting.
A full linux desktop would be sweet since the iPhone has the OpenGL capability and is pretty powerful for a phone. Also allow different phone systems installed (hopefully android dualboot would be in the future) but there is a lot of work to go since these people are really working from scratch since Apple didnt really release the drivers to their iPhone hardware.
having free reign over the phone and it’s OS without apple telling you what can and can’t be installed on it. The iphone is unix based, but it’s also closed source. It could make the phone a lot more usable.
people said the same thing about jailbreaking their phones
