THE **iPhone** Thread (GPS, JailBreak, Apps, Etc)

1 - i don’t jailbreak
2 - forget games and crap…i can’t get thru 1 business day without being plugged in to power…simple calendar, contacts, phone calls, maps for directions. The only thing that makes this usable for an entire day roaming around Manhattan with no access to power is my mophie battery pack. prior to that it was dead by 1pm.

you can’t just bring the cord with you and have it pluggedi nto the computer when you have it…

I find it hard to kill the battery these days other than playing games when I’m being a couch potato and my roomate is watching one of her shitty shows.

isnt it installous?

yes, i leave it plugged into a laptop all the time if I’m at a desk. But if i am on the move in NYC going from site to site…no opportunity to do that.

What the hell are you doing then?

I was in nyc for 2 days. Only issue that killed the battery was going into the subways and had no service for a hour becuase it kept trying to search.

Are you using PUSH email or contacts? How long are you keeping the screen on per day?

With Push email, about 60 min a day on the phone and listening to music off the iPod on it all day, I have 30-50% battery left at the end of the day.

yeah, x2 on that.

I usually run out of battery within 2 hours in the morning if I’m not charged, but thats because I stream music online. If I don’t, the battery lasts all day without having to recharge if I’m not playing games or anything

ditch appshare, you don’t even need it anymore.

just get the latest version of installous and you’ll be good to go. It has a built in “app browser” thing

U must be very popular! I could probly get my battery to last 2 days if needed. I dont play on mine as much, i check the weather every once and awhile but if i didnt purposely try to show it off or prove someone wrong with google it would last 2 days.

When it was stock it seemed faster, its still a hot phone i just wish more people would make backgrounds for winterboard right now I have Patricia Ford which is nice

just a heads up (if you didn’t already know), winterboard or any other program that uses mobile substrate type apps will deffinitly slow your phone down a lot. If you get rid of it, chances are you’ll notice a decent speed improvement.

if you know what you’re doing, I think you can change the wallpaper with having it installed

yea i just saw that… installous 2.0 seems much nicer too…

Sim city seems like its going to be a good time too!! I can’t play games at work though… I get yelled at :frowning:

ok i tried downloading sim city through appulous v 2.0. i downloaded through znet, went to try and install it and it says, “unable to decompress archive”.

iv tried downloading and then installing and directly installing, neither of them work.

i got mine through megaupload… and it worked fine… are you all the way updated?

yes i am updated, but this is not the first program that wont do this. i have many that i tried getting through appulous that wont install. uggggggggggh my head hurts from this shit.

are you on 3G/edge?

it’s probably changing IP’s

to get around it (if not on wifi), after you have installous installed, install safari download plugin from cydia.

go to appulous in safari, find the app you want and go to the rapidshare link. When you’re on the screen that asks if you want the free or paid service, open a new tab and go to seeqpod.com. find any MP3 and start downloading it. As soon as that starts, go back to the first tab and start downloading from rapidshare.

this allows you to keep the same IP as the other file is downloading in the background.

or wait till u get on wifi

no im using my 1st gen ipod touch. its all the same OS right?

I don’t see why it would be a problem.

oh well ill do it later, i have to go to work tonight. hopefully i can pick up some wifi at fiama so i can figure this shit out.

what time you working at fiama… I’ll do a burn out infront of it, if i get bored after work

not using push anymore, fetch every 15 minutes. Pings personal and work email sites. I was thinking about going with push with a xfer to YMail for personal. Not sure if that’s worth it??

Screen time? When i’m on a laptop, not much. Traveling around town…between calls, SMS, looking up contacts, calendar and google maps and doing email…sure, it’s on much much more.

Your subway tip is interesting note. i suppose I could go into airplane mode then, but at this point its moot. With my external battery i never die during a business day.

4-close lol that would make my night. you wont beat the asshole that blew through starin tho and gott-boned. or the bum that faceplanted last week that chris (passmcgrass) had to call an ambulence for. hahaha ill make sure i have my camera handy tho
