Well after trying the blackra1n on the 2G Iphone on a second computer it broke perfectly. Musta been something with USB drivers on this computer. Regardless, blackra1n worked EXCELLENT! No complaints at all. My Iphone is not even 3G. It’s over 2 years old now. I still use the crappy Edge network.
Have been using Cydia and love some of the new stuff I have been able to do. Phone has really become trick now and have reinvented my opinion of the Iphone.

Blackra1n fail IMO, redsn0w was less of a pain in the ass for me.
sweet so my home key starts to act a little weird and activates voice control on Saturday (on its own when phone is locked or unlocked did not seem to matter) but hasn’t done it since. The home key once and awhile still takes a few pushes to get it to respond but not a big deal. I take it into the apple store where I am told the water sensors are tripped and now it has been flagged. They were nice enough to clean out (she took it to the back and said she cleaned out the button and connectors) and didn’t charge me.
Did some research and find that the water sensor is extremely sensitive and a lot of false trips have been happening from simply humid conditions. gay but o well as long as the phone works for 6 more months I will just buy another one
My question is, the whole phone works perfect now and would never tell the sensor has been tripped. Do people still buy these on ebay or whereever this way? I would disclose this obviously in the listing
dunno how people are having so many issues. i literally upgraded to 3.1.2, downloaded Blackra1n and ran it. It jailbroke in seconds and put cydia and rock on there.

I followed all the random directions on the internet also…stopping services…fresh restore…holding buttons…
It will pop the phone into restore mode…run the jail break…screen will go to all black and the boot loader screen for the jail break never comes up.
So with the new jailbreak can u still unlock?
no, im pretty sure blackra1n was just a jailbreak and there’s nothing out to unlock it yet.

Just have someone with a mac make you a 3.1.2 and remove the baseband so you can upgrade and still unlock.
I haven’t been able to receive or send MMS for the past 3 days, ever since I tried jailbreaking with blackra1n, any suggestions? I’ve restored a few times now
Same here. Modded tons of stuff. Weather on tool bar, battery % display, oakly network, changed WIFI indicated, Edge icon is now a snail, CF display…

Finally was able to use blackra1n and jailbreak, lasted all of 5 mins and I restored because everything was glitched and wouldn’t install ANYTHING (apps, whatnot) correctly without an error message. Now I’m trying to get it to run blackra1n again, nada.

Did you opt to install more than one of the apps like Cydia, ICE AND/OR Rock? If so, that caused your situation. Pick one app you like, restore phone, rejail break, install just Cydia and go! Been there, done that…
