A friend of mine has a rem 700 chambered in .223 I can put a group the size of a half dollar at 300 yards with remington UMC ammo. He can get a group the size of a quarter with the stuff he rolls himself. Personally I would like to get into a 700 chambered in .308 just because. For most applications 350-400 yards is the practical limit for .223 (can be pushed farther I’m just saying practical use for most people) and .308 double that. I only have access to a 300 yard range so for me .223 is the way to go. Plus .223 is a great affordable caliber for both ammo and weapons systems to fire it. Just my opinion though.
