The OFFICIAL Gun Thread.

Feel like I’m bouncing back and fourth here, but I’d like to weigh all my optons before buying. What’s you’re opinion on the remington 700 Xcr in .300 mag? That or the browning x-bolt stainless stalker in .300.

X bolts are nice. So is 300 win mag.

I was talking about shelf prices. I normally wait for gander to put the ammo on sale and then it’s .35 a round. For cheap .308 and 30-06 the price is the same. For target shooting .308 would be a better choice though. How expensive is the hazmat shipping on ammo anyway?

It’s not HAZMAT, just ORM-D. Shipping on ammo is cheap as hell I think. I wanna say $25 per 900rds of 5.56.

Everyone: if buying in bulk, check out aimsurplus.com. I’ve bought several thousand rounds of various ammo from them and have always had an excellent experience and they’re usually cheapest for bulk.

/\ i wanna buy a Mosin Nagant from there.

somebody give me the positive and negatives of the Mosin?

There aren’t really any negatives for the price you pay lol. Just don’t expect to put a scope on it easily.

I’ll have to look into that I normally just grab a few hundred rounds when it’s 25% off at the store. There are enough firearms enthusiasts on this site we should try and work out a group buy if there is enough economy of scale.

Cheap rifle, ammo is cheap but corrosive so you have to cheap the weapon after each time you shoot it. I have one and I’ve fired maybe 100 rounds through it. Kinda fun to shoot, but it kicks like a mule. I bought mine cause it was 100 bucks and something cool to own. My .02

People underestimate .223 for no reason. For normal people shooting at 200 yd ranges they are fine. They’re effective past that too depending your setup but I don’t see a reason for .308 except that the price of everything increases at least in ar platform.

A friend of mine has a rem 700 chambered in .223 I can put a group the size of a half dollar at 300 yards with remington UMC ammo. He can get a group the size of a quarter with the stuff he rolls himself. Personally I would like to get into a 700 chambered in .308 just because. For most applications 350-400 yards is the practical limit for .223 (can be pushed farther I’m just saying practical use for most people) and .308 double that. I only have access to a 300 yard range so for me .223 is the way to go. Plus .223 is a great affordable caliber for both ammo and weapons systems to fire it. Just my opinion though.

I agree. People underestimate the round because when it originally came out people were skeptical and theyre assumption about its performance (which were wrong) carried over and now people without a clue have no trust in it. When navy seals I’ve talked to love the round and prefer 5.56 over the 7.62 I think I’m ok with it too. They’re just as deadly in a short and mid range as a 308 is. I’ve seen some pictures of insurgents shot with 5.56’s and 7.62…I gotta be honest they look the same.

Reference my post back a page. Very easy.

Picked up a Tikka T3 Lite 300Wsm yesterday with a 4-12x40. Got to put a few rounds through it today, and holy hell I’m in love :lol

EXCELLENT rifle :excited. Tikki is a subsiudiary company of the renowned Sako. I’ve been after a Tikka T3 varmint in .243 for a long time now. Sadly, they have not been imported into the states in that caliber.

Hammer forged barrel, matched actions, excellent ergonomics. You cannot go wrong with a tikka.

Yeah I was really surprised how nice a rifle it is, especially for the money!! They guarantee 1" groups at 100yds too, which I thought was cool.

Tikkas are great. Nice pick up Adam.

High end Mosins that shot the best came scoped from the factory.

I <3 my Mosin.

But yes, lots of cosmo, kick and corrosive ammo.

I picked up a box of 440 rounds for 80 bucks, can’t beat that.

Thanks dude, I love it, kicks like a mule! I wanna get out and get it sighted in

Sure ya can, 550rds of Federal .22LR HP’s for $18.XX :lol

post some pics Adam, I’ve never seen one.

Will do once I get on my computer and stop accessing the site through my phone haha.
